I've done a little bit of testing and can confirm that it is IER that is having problems.

If I disable IER, links will open in Edge ok.

But as soon as I enable IER, html formatted email links will open in File Explorer while text email links will open in Edge.

That's what I was trying to explain, this is Microsoft's fallback "solution".

I figured as much, which is why I posted that, so that you knew that I was having this known issue.

    Thank you.

Re: Opening web links in emails with Windows 10

Just FYI: I'm on my way to provide a solution. Unfortunately it isn't as easy as it might appear since Edge isn't a browser but a "Modern App" which can't be handled old style ...

If you do come up with a solution, that would be fantastic. I just hope it that it isn't too complicated to code.

However, it may set Pegasus up for the future Apps setup rather than the old way.

Certainly not, it requires a totally other way of programming, which is especially true for addons like IER or BearHtml which aren't even close to C or C++ having been the default for Windows programming before Windows 10. Anyway, try the new IER version to be found at <http://community.pmail.com/files/folders/community_add-ons_for_pegasus_mail/entry24145.aspx>.

    Ah, ok.

Browser drop down list doesn't work anymore. No biggie for me as html email links now open in edge instead of file explorer. Thank you.

It does for me on Windows 10, if Edge is the default browser it also includes Edge, if another browser is the default Edge isn't included since I couldn't figure out any way to make it open HTML files (only URLs). Did you check whether it's enabled in IER's configuration? Anybody else?

    Michael,

    Just to clarify...

"Browser submenu" option ticked = List of available browsers (except Edge) is shown when when hovering over the "Open message in web browser" function

"Browser submenu" option not ticked = No list of available browsers when hovering over the "Open message in web browser" function.  Clicking it opens the message in the default browser.

My apologies. I've just looked again on HTML email url links and Edge is listed with the other three browsers installed on my desktop in the drop down list. I'm not sure why I didn't see this yesterday. So all is good here thank you.

Browser submenu? If so, it is enabled on my Pegasus install.

This is all correct, Brian, for getting Edge to show up you need to shut down and restart Pegasus Mail (I'll enable my hint for doing so in the next update, I need to fix another issue anyway).

No need to apologize, see my reply to Brian for the backgound of this "phänomenon".

I shut down Pegasus to update IER. Well, IER installer said to close Pegasus, so I guess that is closing and opening Pegasus. Or does Pegasus have to be closed and opened again after the close and open for installing the updated IER?
