No no, this was FYI after we worked out the crash reason (mostly thanks to Michael determination), which may be helpful to someone else until next PM version will be issued. Thinking of this problem little more I made one more test just now. This revealed, that questioned string is not important itself - what caused the crash is fact, that in the first section of user PMAIL.INI file was parameter without value (i.e. string with "\r\n" just after '=' sign for example "test=" ). On my platform (Windows7 32-bit, local installation) such an entry in section [Pegasus Mail for Windows - built-in TCP/IP Mail] causes crash on PM 4.61 startup (while version 4.52 worked with that flawlesly).

Sorry, whatever went wrong happened by accident only (duplicates), I could at least fix the formatting ...

While I would prefer smaller icons, they do look much more in flow with Windows 7 now.  It's better.

Long HTML links seem to be finally fixed.  I use Outlook 2007/2010 all day at work and even have a fully licensed copy of 2007 on my desktop and laptop.  I still pick Pegasus.

    Re: Release 4.61

I agree completely! The "new" interface is not at all better than the old one. Huge icons went out years ago. They do nothing to enhance a program, or make it more attractive. In fact, I find quite the opposite to be true.

    Re: Release 4.61

You can go back to old icons, you just have to rename the PNG folder to something else.

Re: Release 4.61 (crash report) ME TOO

Hi - since installing SP1 on Win 7 Ultimate, peg 4.61 crashing all the time.  If I roll it back to 4.52, all fine and stable. I´ve tried to then update, or did a full clean install.  Once I bring in the MAIL folder, crash.  It loads, and then 5-10 secs later this appears>:

Re: Release 4.61 (crash report) ME TOO

Michael - many thanks.  Uninstalled the HTML renderer completely (just decided not to take chance) and now all good.

I think maybe it might be an idea to consolidate all the 4.6.1 crash reports as the problem may become common, as people update IE 9.???  Might make your life easier.

Are there any plans to modify and update the HTML renderer???

Forum really great for this - took me 2 days, and then hours and hours to get an answer from Microsoft on a tech point.

You never know what thread people choose ...

I've already identified the issue and David Harris suggested to make another Pegasus Mail release which might also provide the latest TER/HTS editor/reader version, but we haven't had any time for testing both, yet. I intend to at least have it out before Microsoft's next patchday (first Tuesday in April) when they'll most probably distribute IE 9 to everyone.

Thanks, but it doesn't always work out like this ...

A public test version is now available. It provides other fixes and enhancements as well.

Will this release also fix the bugs with empty attachments when forwarding mail and crashing Pegasus when using a filter to delete attachments from incoming mail?

Well, this thread isn't really the proper place for reporting bugs, especially since it already mixes up several issues; please start a separate thread for your issues on the support forum; and in case it should have been reported before (which I'm not aware of): Can you please point us to where these issues have been reported in detail before so we understand what exactly you're talking about? Otherwise we certainly won't be able to deal with any such issues, sorry ...

Sorry that I've used the wrong place for asking and that those things are new to you:

    1. "empty attachments when forwarding mail"

    e.g.: http://community.pmail.com/forums/post/18974.aspx

        Steffan:

Some time ago, when I had the public beta version of Pmail installed, I created a new mail filtering rule (applied when opening the new mail folder) to delete any attachments named 'filename.txt' (containing a corporate disclaimer). This caused Pegasus to freeze and it still does (Version 4.51). When I reported it at the time, I received a reply from David but I no longer have that (I may have reformatted my hard drive twice since then) and I don't recall what it said exactly. It didn't as yet provide a solution so much as suggest that I keep a log, possibly using the mini-dump extension. However, since I receive mail with that particular attachment on a very regular basis, Pegasus would freeze just a little too often for me to continue using that mail filtering rule without banging my head against the wall every time :-) Anyone any ideas or suggestions as to what I could do to help identify the cause of the problem?

        Cheers!
        Steffan

I tested it and indeed the program is hanging when removing an attachment by filterrule. No solution for you (except deleting the rule....).

I will bring this to the attention of the beta-team.

    e.g. http://community.pmail.com/forums/post/21655.aspx

        ivorygate:

Am I correct in that this bug did not get fixed in the recently released 4.52 version?

I just tried it and it still doesn't work, but then again I could be doing something wrong on my end, so I wanted to double-check.

This may well have slipped David's mind while working on version 4.52 or he may have had other priorities, relating to Windows 7, for example. Far be it from me to speculate about this, though. All I know is that the rule used to work in previous versions but it became buggy in what I think was the 4.51 release. I'll re-enable the delete attachment rule that I had configured as soon as this previously implemented but currently unimplemented feature gets reimplemented :-)

    2. "filter to delete attachments from incoming mail"

    e.g.: http://community.pmail.com/forums/post/15411.aspx

    e.g.: http://community.pmail.com/forums/post/20608.aspx

        rogers:

<- idw

    Sorry for disturbing

Sorry that I've used the wrong place for asking and that those things are new to you:

You could have just updated the respective threads with new posts which would have brought them back to the top. Looks like you switched the subjects of these issues BTW, so I removed them here:

    rogers:
    e.g.: http://community.pmail.com/forums/post/18974.aspx

Well, this one is actually called Pegasus freezes on applying delete attachment mail filtering rule, and I'll ask Steffan to provide the filter rule and a dump so it might be a bit easier to fix.

    rogers:
    e.g.: http://community.pmail.com/forums/post/15411.aspx

This is Forwarding a message is creating an attachment, actually not an "empty" one: Given the amount of work on David Harris' plate I just assume this one is only a minor annoyance (and I know there are more of them in Pegasus Mail) ...
