SMTP Client (end-to-end version) Unable to send

    Hi,

I've just migrated from a bloated Exchange email system to Mercury and while I've configured multiple domains and users, I can't get sending of external mail to work, internal mail works fine.

The email is recieved into the SMTP server fine, the Core Process does it's thing, all looks good.

When it comes to the SMTP Client (end-to-end version), I get the following:

    ***** STARTS *****

    10:19:11: processing job MO00005E

Resolved MX for 'chumble.net' to 62.49.254.148

    Connecting to 62.49.254.148

    Connection error.

    ***** ENDS *****

This happens for any domain, and I've checked the IP address is correct for the look up.

Can anyone shed some light on why sending isn't working?

    Thanks,

    James

Always nice to fix a problem yourself!

Turns out the issue was Macfee anti virus (v8 enterprise) blocking all port 25 traffic. Removed that rule, worked fine.

First thing i though of was port 25 blocking.  ;-) Make sure that McAfee is not scanning the mail folders and Mercury/32 directories since it will cause problems.  You will lose whole folders if McAfee finds a virus in a folder.  McAfee is not as bad as some A-V software but it still can cause mail delivery problems.   You can run the Clamwall daemon on Mercury/32 and have clamd process your email type viruses.
