How to get all incoming e-mail into one folder?

I have no real local users. E-mail delivered to the system is processed automatically by another software.

Hi.

I have recently set up Pegasus Mail. It was working fine but now I am having some trouble with IMAP. If I try to click on a mail I get the following message "The IMAP server that manages this mailbox or folder has reported an error during the operation you have attempted to perform." Also I no longer appear to be receiving all mails. My web server is called blacknight and they use qmail. It appears all the settings are correct I have changed them several times. Any help would be much appreciated??

Pegasus Mail Windows 8 Version

I have pegasus mail in my previous windows 7 before it completely brokedown and I can say that I like pegasus mail. I checked and send email through pegasus mail.

However, things changed when I used windows 8. I missed checking and sending emails using pegasus.

How I wish that you have pegasus mail that can work in windows 8 64bits.

Locking Option For Startup Identity & Windows Etc

Being called upon as tech support to my spouse fairly frequently to re-arrange her Pegasus startup
Windows; I suggest a 'Startup Configuration/Windows Locking' option.

So that Pegasus starts up looking the same way & getting the same Identity e-mail in the same appearance
as has been originally set up & the user is used to seeing.

Or is there a way of doing that now ??

Message marking / tagging / highlighting (IMAP)

Almost any email client supports the feature of marking / highlighting / tagging single messages. In Outlook Express it was a little flag, in Thunderbird it is a star to mark messages.

However if I mark a massage in an IMAP account, the marking gets lost as soon as I leave that folder. I found no advice regarding this problem in the Mercury documentation or in the forum.

In a session log I found the entry:

11:17:39.203: << * FLAGS (\Deleted \Draft \Seen \Answered)<cr><lf>

In RFC2060 I found " \Flagged Message is "flagged" for urgent/special attention"

Seems that the "\Flagged" flag is responsible for message highlighting. Is this not supported by Mercury? Do I need a special enabling for this feature?

IMAP: messages are shown corrupted

from several IMAP sources (local as well as INET) I have different IMAP mailboxes, but the effect described here is with some mailboxes all the same:
Some do, but some don't show up correct, instead the selected message is opened with (German) failure note

<Meaning a text-line with an error, but no mail itself and no attachments...>

However these mails are not corrupted, they can be opened with different mail-clients (!), e.g. direct INET-mailbox-clients or with another mail-client TB/Outlook only in PMail it isn't shown.

I remember there was/is some "cache" or temp-file which should be manually deleted/renamed ...

Toolbar incon background color

The background color of all the toolbar icons in my PMail (4.63 build 325) has turned black for some reason. It's not an issue with respect to the function of the program itself but the graphics on some of the icons is difficult to read above the black. I've looked through the configuration settings and don't find anything that would affect the background color(s). Sometimes when/if I reboot the machine the backgrounds will come back white but eventually turn to black again. Kinda wierd ... anyone else experience this? Is there something I'm missing in the configuration?

Domain not meant to be used in email?

I wonder if anyone can shed some light on the following? When replying to mail from one particular colleague (possibly also when emailing him directly, I can't quite remember, but certainly this happens when replying to his messages to me) I *occasionally* receive the following mail delivery error message after sending:

reasons reported either by the mail delivery system on the mail
relay host or by the local TCP/IP transport module:

553 5.1.2 <firstname.lastname@domain.com>... the domain domain.com is not meant to be used in email

(I've changed the email address/domain name above but there's nothing unusual about it, i.e. no special characters or anything like that). Initially I thought it was a problem at his end as this issue only occurs when emailing this one particular address but just now I've noticed that the above error message is preceded by the following when I look at it in Pegasus' "Raw view":

I'm wondering whether that might indicate that the problem is internal to Pegasus itself, or perhaps relates to the conversation between Pegasus and my own ISP's SMTP server and has nothing to do with the recipient's email server. Has anyone seen this error message before? I believe it's the first time I've ever encountered it and the odd thing is the issue crops up intermittently, not all the time - sometimes mail gets through successfully and sometimes not, yet the email address is the same. Many thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Allready downloaded mail suddenly resent ...

Sometimes my Mercury/32 stuck and must be closed and server restarted.

Sometimes (after this) all old e-mail that users has allready downloaded (but not deleted) are suddenly resent, causing problems when they are some hundred or thousand.

I does not figure where put hands to understand the origin of problem, so ask for hints ...

"Returned Undeliverable mail going to SPAM Halter"

Greetings from Texas, USofA,

Have reviewed the filters setup and cannot find any references to returned undeliverable mail to be placed in the SPAM Halter folder. Does not happen all of the time just when I least expect. Have also had some copies to self of sent mail being sent to SPAM Halter. I have read the "Sent to self going to Junk or Suspicious Mail" and found no connections in those filters either for individual folders. Plus have a problem with some mail that should not be sent to SPAM Halter being sent there without a filter setting for that email addy nor the subject area. That also is not regular just every now and then.

What could I be missing as I have looked just about everywhere in the filters? Just learned about right clicking on individual folders and checking the filters which has been done on the SPAM Halter and Junk/Suspicious mail folders with no problems found. Will review all folders, for filters, including the In Box, had never known of filters there before now, just a little confused.

Just had an email from Microsoft AND SANS NEWSBITES being sent to SPAM Halter, checked the Filter for the InBox and did find one entry for Microsoft and removed same, but; there was not any for the SANS organization. Also noticed the same list is found for any of the folders. Do not know how Microsoft's addy managed to get there but it did, not there any more though.

Spamhaus + Google DNS

This is just to help anybody who falls in the same problem that I had.

I had my DNSs pointing to Google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
I had Mercury server with spamcop in spam control running fine.
I added spamhaus to spam control but it didn't filtered out any spam.
As soon as I changed back my DNSs to my ISP's DNSs, spamhaus begun to work and spamcop kept working too.

Note: "soon" means 2h30 later....

Rsshtml provides the same reporting that Rssmail does, but creates an Html file rather than an email message that RssMail does.

IMAP crashes

I have discussed this on the Pmail mailing list, where Brian Fluet has duplicated the same problems that I am experiencing. I am logging this on this forum in the hopes that the Pegasus developers will note the seriousness of the situation and fix the bug.

The problem is as follows: When opening an IMAP folder that is "fairly large" (ie. usually hundreds of messages), Pmail will open a blank window, and not display any message headers. When you try to close the window, Pmail will hang, then crash after several tens of seconds. This occurs with v4.63, and has been doing this for quite a few previous versions. This occurs on Windows XP 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit. I have not tried it on other versions of Windows. This happens both with Linux IMAP servers and with Windows Exchange. Whenever it happens, the Folder Info... for the folder shows either 0 or 128 bytes in the header cache,

What may be helpful in tracing down this problem is that I have found a consistent way to force Pmail to correctly open the offending folders. The steps are as follows: 1.Open the folder in Thunderbird. 2. Move all but 20 messages temporarily to another folder. 3. Close Thunderbird. 4. Open the folder in Pmail. It will open normally. 5. Verify that the header cache (Folder Info...) contains more than 128 bytes. Normally it will have about 3k bytes at this point. 6. Close Pmail. 7. Open the folder in Thunderbird. 8. Move the rest of the messages back into the folder. 9. Close Thunderbird. 10. Open the folder in Pmail. It now opens correctly!

However, after a time, if more messages are added to the folder, it will again no longer open correctly. If you look at Folder Info... there will be 128 bytes in the header cache.

Also, if, when an IMAP folder does open correctly, you clear the header cache, it will now no longer open correctly.

Please somebody make sure the developers log and fix this bug. It is extremely annoying to have to use Thunderbird to access my folders. I would have already abandoned Pmail because of this, if I didn't find it even more vexing to make the change. I have been using Pmail since DOS days in the early 90's. I would be most grateful if even a patch was released just to fix this bug.

This is a how to setup a secure (SSL) connection to your outlook.com account. It has been a bit of a PITA to get it working properly so I'll share my findings with you guys

First of all. IMAP doesn't work with outlook.com yet

POP3/SSL

Server HostName: pop3.live.com

UserName: [your email]@outlook.com

Password: [I hope you know this one]

TCP Port: 995

Security - Via Direct SSL connect

[X] Disable certificate validation (Shame on you Microsoft - Try WITH validation first in case MS fixed it)

SMTP/SSL

Server Host Name: smtp.live.com

TCP Port: 587

Security - Via STARTTLS

[X] Disable certificate validation (Shame on you Microsoft - Try WITH validation first in case MS fixed it)

[X] Login to the SMTP server using the following details - Same UserName and Password as POP3

Enjoy semi safe emailing (Shame on you MS x3)

Oh I forgot - First attempt to send an email will fail. MS Will send you an automated email response with a validation link challenge.

high contrast/black background

I am extremely light sensitive and have to use Windows 7 with a high contrast theme of black background with white text.

Please improve Pegasus Mail's ability to use system colors, and/or provide a built-in theme with black background. Currently, using the system colors with my theme results in some emails being unreadable in the reader, (black text on black background) and also in the compose window when replying to email with quotations. The behaviour is somewhat inconsistent and I'm sorry I cannot be more specific than to say that the black background is implemented, but much of the text is black too.

The buttons and icons could be improved for high contrast with black background by removing the shading.

As a workaround, I can switch to a compromise theme with a gray background that works fairly well, but it is a royal pain to switch back and forth every time I want to check email. The other alternative is to use the default white background with black text, but this is painful if I use it for long, even with the brightness turned all the way down and wearing my protective dark glasses.

I am a long-time happy Pegasus user, for over a dozen years though I have never created a login here before. Thank you so much for all your hard work!

More POP3 Server Option Info on Status Bar

I routinely use Pegasus to download mail from multiple POP3 sources.

I look at the status bar at the bottom of Pegasus to see if its working.

It just tells me 'POP3 processing' . . . .

I would like it to tell me what POP3 server it is working on as it goes through them.

Recently Used Addresses Enhancements

I use a laptop and to be able to read postings, Ctrl+(roll mouse wheel as though scrolling up window) can increase the size of the font. That is not a problem, it comes when scrolling the window horizontally to view the part of the window at the top, such as my login name, logout, Help, Inbox along with the Search button, which they all show, but; the background 'cream' color is not there, it is a 'black' vertical line. The wording for the a fore mentioned group as well as the "Site Feedback" are in blue and search button is in the cream background color with black letters.

If I roll the mouse the other direction, decreasing the font, all is back to normal within my window and the horizontal scroll slider goes away.

This has never occurred with any other forum I hold membership, they total about 50+.

I would like to ask that anyone who knows of a free board where people help each other with Windows issues please tell me about it. If there are not many such sites that are as good as this one I would like to suggest that this board open a section on Windows issues. I already use the Kim Kommando site for windows issues and it is great I will concede.

I have WIndows Seven Ultimate 64bit on my current system but for as long as I have had computers (which was long before there was windows) I have accidentally hit keyboard commands that made unwanted changes in my screen resolution and other settings. My problem is that I am uncoordinated and at least one keystroke in five is wrong and as many as five or six keystrokes in a row may be wrong. My first wish would be that windows have no keyboard commands at all (yes everything would be done by point and click except typing text) and my second wish would be that if there must be keyboard commands they should all involve more than three keystrokes to minimize the chances of hitting them by accident. If anyone knows of a suggestion for how I could decrease my problems by changing my behavior or of a way I could get my requests through to Microsoft I would be most appreciative.

My problem today was that when typing on a web form and intending to hit shift and a letter I hit control and a letter and immediately my screen zoomed in and my desktop icons got larger and because of their number and new size their order was deranged and some did not display. In the past I have manually adjusted the resolution to what I like and then manually rearranged my desktop but this time it occurred to me to do a system restore. That seems to have worked flawlessly although while the problem existed my blood pressure redlined until I did some calming exercises with which I have been taught to bring it down when it spikes.

Recently Used Addresses Longer List

Or user length selectable. I use it near exclusively & having it to be
substantially longer would be my preference. That way older addresses
don't drop off the list so quick.
