Linux and WINE and Multi-user mode

I have Pegasus 4.63 installed on a windows server in multi-user mode.  Normally a windows client runs the Pegasus executable where it's installed on a shared network drive and identifies themselves with their username (via a command line argument).  I'm currently trying to do the same from a linux client, but not matter what username I supply the following message displays:

"The user you are attempting to 'become' (<insert username here>) does not exist on this system."

I could use some pointers to troubleshoot this.
