    Problem with new user accounts

I'm running Mercury32, v4.01b and currently have 102 users.  We have used Mercury/Pegasus for the last ten years and its a great set of programs.  Lately however, I have found that I am having a problem in that Mercury isn't recognising the new users I create.  You can send internally to the users, using their "real names" but when sending to their aliases from the outside world, or even internally, I get the error of "user not know on this site".  The bizarre thing is that this only happens intermittently and only on users that have recently been created.  If I restart Mercury, I am able to send to the alias.

Any suggestions as to where to start troubleshooting this would be great.

    Thanks

I would upgrade to a later version.  4.01b has some security issues, and I believe some memory issues were fixed in later versions, which may be the cause of your problem.

Re: Problem with new user accounts

Depends a bit on your setup. If you create users with an external program, If you add them via the interface you may have some cache problems with your machine. Mercury must be restarted for it to re-load the local users. You can send the optional command, reload users to the maiser account and you won't have to restart Mercury.

In any circumstance I urge you to upgrade your 4.01b since there has been a lot of fixes and even security patches released since. You can download 4.62 directly from the community Downloads pages for Mercury.

    Kind regards / Peter

Re: Problem with new user accounts

Thanks for the advice.  We create users through the GUI.  Could I ask what you mean by the comment "reload users to the maiser account".  At the moment, we do restart Mercury and this seems to resolve the issue, but only temporarily.  I am not in a position to upgrade at the moment as there is no budget!  :(

We are going to buy the licences after all, so will upgrade. Thanks!

Re: Problem with new user accounts

You may upgrade and run unlicensed for 90 days. After that it's merely a conscience question, Mercury does NOT mis-behave from day 91.

To your issue: If you have any problems with GUI-generated local users after upgrading to 4.62 pls let us know - you should not have to reload Mercury when adding users through the GUI.

    Kind regards / Peter
