How can I get my pop3 email on startup instead of waiting for 10 mins?

I have Mercury set to check for email every 10 minutes.
That is fine, but I also want it to check immediately (or within 1 minute) on start-up?

At the moment, I have to open Mercury and click "poll now" on both the "pop3 client" and the "core process" windows.

You can set core to poll at less interval than a minute so that shouldn't be a problem. For polling other modules, including the POP3 client, Petr Jaklin has written a daemon that does this upon reception of an email (available here: www.3net.cz/software). My own Web Tools for Mercury allows you to do it from a web browser. I'm not aware of any daemon or other tool to automatically poll POP3 at startup, although it would be quite possible to write a daemon to do it.

It occurred to me that it would be extremely simple to add this function to one of my deamons, otherwise used to control which module dialog windows are visible at program start. The modified Dialog Control daemon can be downloaded here. If MercuryD is active a POP3 poll will be performed when Mercury is started.

Thanks Rolf, that is working well.
