Mercury – Outlook – Share mailbox

Hi,

I am using Mercury and Microsoft Outlook 2003 for access a POP3 mailbox.
Everything works fine.
I create a local Mercury user and I send all messages from the POP3 account direct to this user. In Outlook I access Mercury via IMAP to this Mercury user.

My Problem is: I want to have multiple users (a user Group) to access this Mercury mailbox. The users should not have direct access to the Mercury local user (and password).

For Example:

I have the group “Group1”. In this group a user “User1” and “User2” exists.

All members of this group should have access to the Mercury mailbox via IMAP. If I now remove the user “User1” from the group “Group1” the “User1” should NOT have access to the Mercury mailbox. If I add the user “User3” to the group “Group1” the user “User3” should have access to the Mercury mailbox.

Is this possible?

No, you can't assign rights to a mailbox to a group of users. You could create a separate mailbox and give all users in the group the password, of course, but then you would need to change the password if someone is removed from the group to be sure to prevent access. Another solution would be to copy all messages for the group to the individual mailboxes of the group members. This can be done using a list or by creating an alias connected to a rule.
