Emails sent out not being received

I've set up a mercury server for my parents. They claim that some of the emails they send out through the mercury server are not being received. When I test the server by sending emails to gmail or yahoo, it works fine. Perhaps there is something wrong with my settings, I dont know. Could someone please take a look and tell me if they are correct? Also if you know any reasons why gmail and yahoo would receive the emails but other people cannot, could you kindly enlighten me?

This is no good.  I'm surprised anything was sent.  It should be the full name of the server you are using to relay.

Who are the 'other people' who can't receive emails?  Are they on aol or hotmail?

The A record and MX record mail.cfoconsulting.org point to 208.105.243.101.  That's a different IP address. This can be a problem there is no server at this IP address.  Mail to this domain will not be delivered to this server. This is a major problem according to http://www.checkdns.net/quickcheck.aspx?domain=cfoconsulting.org&detailed=1  Personally I think you have a typo in your DNS record and this should point to .102.  ;-)

    cfocapitalpartners: cnygolflinks

    cfocapitalpartners: cnygolflinks.com

Ok, no MX record but the A record points to  208.105.243.102.  Probably should set a MX record pointing to mail.cfocapitalpartners.com so that servers that will not deliver to a server without a MX record will not have a problem.  It's ok though according to http://www.checkdns.net/quickcheck.aspx?domain=cnygolflinks.com&detailed=1

Re: Emails sent out not being received

Fixed the IP address and the MX mix up.

As for the Host: "mail" issue, that is the actual host name for my email account with adelphia(now time warner). It's very strange, but it works. However as per your suggestions I changed the address to: smtp-server.twcny.rr.com. Again my test emails seem to work. I will have to get the domanin names of the emails that are failing and post later. Right now it's almost 1 am and my parents are in bed.

I appreciate your replies, you lot are a very kind bunch.

Re: Emails sent out not being received

What was the error message(s)?   Did they just get sent with no errors?  In any case, turn on session logging in MercuryC and then send a mail message to these addresses.  At least this will verify that it got to the relay host without problems.

Maybe the relay host is being blocked by some blacklists. You have a fixed IP address.  Is the ISP blocking port 25 outbound?  If not then try sending via MercuryE direct to the receiving hosts. maybe the relay host is being blocked by some blacklists.
