Pegasus Mail & Mercury

Since downloading 4.61, I have to close/exit the Pegasus in order to collect mail a second time.  Win 7 operating system.  Is there some setting that affects this?

Set Tools => Options => Advanced settings => Load Windows Internet Services ... to Always and restart Pegasus Mail: Does this help?

Michael, Thanks for the suggestion, but it was already set to Always.

Go to Tools => Internet Options => General and turn session logging on (make sure to read the associated help entry for finding and posting any data here), then test again: Comparing successful with unsuccessful connection logs might already help: Maybe your provider enforces a timeout, i.e. you may only pop messages every 15 minutes?

There's a Help button on the General page, click it and then click the General Internet Mail settings link.

OK I can see the protocol:

Where PM recognizes th pword, asks if there are any messages, gets reply (jn this instance OK 2), RETRieves 1, DELEtes 1, RETR 2, DELEtes 2 then

But I stayed in the program and clicked on the Send/Receive icon three more times before exiting the program...all of which says to me that there were no more internet actions after the initial mail download.

Each connection attempt should create a new log-file, please check again (the logging option gets automatically disabled when closing and restarting Pegasus Mail, BTW). And how do you know that no further connection attempts are made? Pegasus Mail's status bar should tell you if it does. Do you have auto-hang-up (Tools => Internet options => Dialling) enabled? If so, do you still use a dial-up connection? If not disable both dialling and hang-up.

Not using dialup. Still cannot manually initiate mail collection, but about noon today the auto collection kicked in and it checks about every 60 seconds for new mail. The only manual action that gets a response in the status tray/bar is the Menu item for selective download.  Still the double arrow Icon, the POP3 icon and the Menu item to Download new mail get no response in the status tray/bar.

As long as it automatically collects mail. I can live with it. The manual part is not that important.  I have no idea why the auto collection function suddenly started working, but now I know how to monitor it in case it seems to have stopped again.
