If you are using current v4.63 try close of winpm-32, use task manager to be sure no other instances are open. Then run mbxmaint_ui.exe from the \programs folder and use it to repair or reindex the copyself.pmm and it will report success or errors. When restart winpm-32 and error should have been fixed. Also check or disable temporarily any copyself filtering rules if necessary as another test.

    Thank you very much for your suggestion. I am running Pegasus V4.63. I ran 'mbxmaint_ui.exe'  (thank you for bringing this program to my attention) with no success. It couldn't find 'COPYSELF' or 'COPYSELF.PMM' or 'FOL00124.PMM'. All I get is:

- #41 no matching files found

Has anything been moved or rename form default original? Go back and run mbxmaint_ui.exe again with it pointed to main.pmm in your home mail box location and use the Check button and run that. Is all reported correctly? If so then scroll (select) word main in the command line and replace with * symbol do now ..\*.pmm as the target and check again. Are all *.pmm folder files found and checked now? Were all ok? If not repair the folder indicated.

When winpm-32 is running if you check Tools, Options, Copies to self and use the select what is shown? What do you see in your home mail box location in win explorer or if using command prompt what does dir *.pmm do when run from your home mail box location? Is copyself.pmm found?

Hi Jerry,  Don't mean to hijack the post, but I have the exact same problem and have no idea how to find the "mbxmaint_ui.exe" program you are talking about.   Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give me.

The mbxmaint and mbxmaint_ui.exe files would be located in same location as winpm-32.exe and with a default install that location is c:\pmail\programs.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I went there and did a check and a repair.  The check said it was ok.  I repaired it and it said "folder repair completed normally".  Unfortunately when I opened pmail and closed it I still got the "data error encounted" message.  I looked at the rest of your instructions and didn't understand them.  Sorry for not being more proficient.

I did check "Tools, Options, Copies to self and use the select what is shown".  It seemed to show a list of all the folders, and copy to self ws one of them.  If that helps.

 

Another way to fix indexing issues is to do the following:

Create a new folder and open it. Drag all the messages from the folder that has the index issues into the new folder.

Check that the messages are OK - open a couple to make sure the message opened is complete and that the contents reflect the subject line/sender info.

Once you are happy that the new folder is OK, delete the old folder.

This process rebuilds the index (.pmi) and should solve your problem. Remember that there is a 2GB limit on folder size.

Well since I deleted most of the mesages in copies to self it was easy to drage the remainin g few into a new file.  Now however, I can't figure out how to delete the "copy to self" file.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

In Folder manager window right click on the folder and folder information and it will show the filename and other information too.

The question though, is why you feel it is necessary to delete the file. Copies to self is one of the default folders and has default functions. If necessary Delete and recreate can't you do so from the provided GUI in Folder manager?
