I've had a quick search on the forums/net but can't seem to find anyone trying to do the same thing as me.
I have successfully set up XAMPP and Mercury/32 mail server on my laptop on my [fairly large home lan], and created numerous user accounts which I can access via Thunderbird of which I can send and view emails for each account successfully.
I have also set up an alias for a user account of email@example.com, and reference it to the IP address of [127.0.0.1].
What I would like to do is set up a mailbox on my iPhone so that when it is connected to my home wifi, I can see emails that were sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why I hear you ask!
I'm developing a website which will auto-generate HTML emails and I would like to preview how these look on mobile platforms, iPhones,iPads,BB's, Androids etc without having to open my SMTP port (I done that and spammed everybody)!
I have tried with the POP/IMAP/SMTP servers as localhost.com, 127.0.0.1, [127.0.0.1], ip address of my machine on the network, [ip address of my machine on the network] etc, but none seem to work.
I guess the same scenario would be how can you access a mail account from a different machine but still on the same local network, as I would imagine the same settings would exist.
Has anyone managed to achieve this, and if so how did you, I'm starting to get frustrated now.
Thanks in advance :D
