Is it possible that you were using the -i command line option in the shortcut of your previous install to tell Pegasus Mail what user to startup as?

As for copying a Pegasus Mail installation to a new machine, if the installation of the Pegasus Mail that you want to copy had the directory structure of C:\PMAIL\PROGRAMS\... and C:\PMAIL\MAIL\... then you should be able to copy the entire C:\PMAIL content from the old machine to C:\PMAIL on the new one regardless that it is running Win10.

The issue with write protection on Win10 is with the \Program Files directories.  Pegasus Mail files can not reside inside of either of them.

Note: Don't use a CD or DVD to transfer files unless you know how to work around their write protection.

Re: After simple a Transfer from Win7 to Win10 suddenly a Username is requested

    Hi again,

    with winpm-32.exe -i FTPH

I get a  "The user you are attemptinf to 'become' (FTPH) does not exist in this system. But is exists in the old system.

    All Programs are under C:\PMAIL\Programs>

    all Mails in  C:\PMAIL\MAIL

I am the owner of C:\PMAIL\MAIL\*

I have full access to all  C:\PMAIL\MAIL\*

The files are not write protected

    I am administrator

    I am clueless

***HELP*** 5GB Mails unavailable is a disaster

If Pegasus Mail is still functioning on the old computer go to its Help > About Pegasus Mail and click the Info button.  The resulting display can be copied and pasted into a reply that we can review to see if we can identify anything in the configuration the might cause problems with a copy from machine to machine.

    gfr:
PS.: on the old Win7 Pegasus is working on C:\Program Files\PMAIL\...

This explains the problem.  Copying C:\Program Files\PMAIL\... to C:\PMAIL\... won't work because of the different paths.

    You will need to...

    • do a clean install on the Win10 machine
    • create the Pegasus Mail users in the new install to match that of the old install
    • copy data files from the old mailbox directories to the new ones
There is a whitepaper in the downloads area of this site that was created as a guide for exactly this scenario.  It is listed as "Pegasus Mail files to copy to a new system guide".

Follow up comment:  Do not try to copy or install Pegasus Mail to either of the \Program Files directories on Win10, it will not function.

Re: After simple a Transfer from Win7 to Win10 suddenly a Username is requested

Hi I'd like to say thank-you. But I've changed to thunderbird and installed Pegasus on a VM in Win7 just to have a possibility to have my old mails handy.

    Thanks again

    Gottfried
