Pegasus Mail & Mercury

Hi,

 somtimes folders crash in my pegasus and they have to be reindexed again after.

But now there a two folders that vanished and therefore I can t reindex them. I looked the in the pegasus folder and there are two .pmm-Files without

a .pmi (Index File).

 My question is now: how do I get the .pmi-File back into pegasus, if a still got the mails (as .pmm)?

Create a file of the same root name with the PMI extension.  I usually copy one of the empty PMI files I have in ther home mail directory.  Do this with WinPMail not running or it will not be seen in the folder listing.

FWIW, if this is happening a lot it sounds like you have something else, maybe your anti-virus scanner, fighting WinPMail for the folder access.

1.) I tried to create a new folder and changed it´s PMI-file into the name of the missing file, but it didnt work. When I open Pegasus it cant see the folder. I also tried it the other way round and changed the name of the PMM-File I have left into the name of the new created to use the existing PMI without changing. But the same result.

 
PMM was not running while changing. Just to let u know: we are using pegasus on a server with different computers using it. One of the missing PMI has a very big PMM file (more than 1000 mails), maybe that´s also a problem, but I tried also a smaller one.

If the folder is not showing up then it's quite possible that the hierarch.pm file is messed up or that you have two folders with the same internal folder name.  You might try simply deleting (moving) the hierarch.pm so that WinPMail will rebiuld it from the folders in the home mail directory.

was corrupted you are suggesting that a blank index be copied into the folder and

renamed so that the files can be re indexed again.  Is that about right ?

It is possilble to program for an error condition if the index file is corrupt

and then have a new one created and then an automatic re-indexing

of the files to occur.  If I am right in understanding this issue, this is how I

would like to see a future version function.

Nope, in this case the PMI folder was completely missing so the folder was not showing at all.  A corrupt index can usually be fixed via a folder right click "Reindex  folder" to rebuild the PMI from the messages in the PMM file.
