• Warning - deleting empty folders, not always safe

I was getting a network error on Mercury today, so it wasn't retrieving my new email. Then I had a brainwave. Last week while exploring 'Kerish Doctor''s options, I saw that it could search for and delete all empty folders. Great, I hate empty folders! So, fortunately it had a 'rollback' option, so I did that and all is well again.P.S. Kerish ...

  • Recent messages in a folder missing: My restore process

I noticed that the last couple of years messages from one folder were missing. My fix:I knew some text that would be in the most recent missing email, so I searched the MAIL\username folder for that text using Agent Ransack. This identified a PMI/PMM pair that held the missing emails. They had a different filename from the current truncated files.I ...

  • Re: How to search for text in Mercury .PMM files

No, I'm searching for 'body' content. And I'm using Thunderbird via IMAP, so I don't think I can use any email client search since it doesn't have the email contents. After Copernic's indexing finished, I now find that I can search for a word and get a FOLxxxxx.PMM file name quickly; then I wait about a minute for the content to display.Looks ...

  • How to search for text in Mercury .PMM files

I use Copernic Desktop Search for many files on my PC.I also run Mercury on this PC, and would like to be able to search for text inside .PMM files. I have just tried Agent Ransack, which works after a fashion. (Slow with large files).Does anyone have any other suggestion? [Update: I've discovered I can add a custom filetype to Copernic. It is ...

  • Re: Missing and old-named IMAP folders

I've installed Pegasus, and that _can_ see all my IMAP folders. Thanks for the hint! So, it is some sort of Thunderbird config error - it does have some confusing things, 'Sync' and 'Archive' options which I don't really need. But can I live with the old PMAIL quirks?Maybe I can use *both* clients in the meantime... as long as I don't try using both ...

  • Missing and old-named IMAP folders

I have just installed Windows 8, after previously using Windows 8 CP for many months. Now I can't see all my Mercury folders from Thunderbird (IMAP).My MERCURY\MAIL folder was not on my boot drive, so will not have changed at all.- a few folders are missing completely- a few folders are greyed-out (I know these ones have previously been renamed ...

  • 504 Need Fully Qualified Address

I have a customer who sends me email, and he has specified that he gets read confirmation, which I think about and usually allow. However, it looks like the 'replies' are failing.I have found .cnm files under Mail\Admin that contain the following (partly quoted) Content-Description: Reason for delivery failure. The attached message has failed ...
