• Re: Problem sending mail

It sounds like a situation of different configuration settings in identities causing the change in behavior depending on identity. Do you use multiple identities?

  • Re: "Copy to Self" results in an entry for each cc recipient

dlbayne:Copy to Self results in an entry for each cc recipient. I don't know what would cause this. This only thing that comes to mind that will act on the cc content is copyself filters. I don't know about autofilters but that's worth checking as well (right click on the Copy to Self folder name > Autofiltering and see if there ...

  • Re: SmtpEvt daemon questions

A side affect of trying to understand the SmtpEvt daemon is that I now have a better understanding of the options in the MercuryS Compliance tab and of the potential value of transaction filtering as way to immediately blacklist an IP address that has been identified as repeated trying to gain access. My ''refuse'' entries in Connection ...

  • Re: SmtpEvt daemon questions

Thanks Rolf. I don't know that SmtpEvt is going to help much. What I'm seeing is Auth Login failures from the same IP in groups of anywhere from 3-15, then they'll stop for anywhere from 3 to a few days then another group, rinse, repeat. This is happening from a number of different IP addresses. When I identify one I block ...

  • Re: Problem sending mail

Earlier in this discussion I mentioned that the login credentials are logged. The entries following the 334 entries are the username and password, base 64 encrypted. Use an online decryption tool like the one at www.base64decode.org to confirm what is being transmitted. Check for something invisible like a leading or trailing ...

  • Re: Problem sending mail

I don't know how this could be happening. POP3 host configuration files and SMTP host configuration files are unique files used based on the host selection in the in the Receiving and Sending tabs of Internet Options. I would review every detail but would certainly create a new SMTP host configuration and disable then delete the old ...

  • Re: Problem sending mail

Euler make a good point about mail going directly to the queue. Either configuration is set to queue mail or the smtp server isn't available (which should trigger some sort of error). What happens when you try to send a queued message? If you use multiple identities and have the option enabled to ''Send mail at once without placing in ...

  • SmtpEvt daemon questions

I'm trying to figure out the best way to utilize the SmtpEvt daemon to help control the attacks on MercuryS. Please help with the following questions. Volume is low so is I don't think I need trntrack.dll but is it necessary in order to benefit from IP address blocking, watchlist_count, and watchlist_minutes? What is the difference between ...

  • Re: Problem sending mail

The most current version is available from the Pegasus Mail website at www.pmail.com although it's very unlikely that a reinstall will help. Turn on session logging then attempt a send and review the resulting log for a clue into the cause of failure. DO NOT post the entire content of a log file because it will contain your credentials ...
