Pegasus email froze up

Ok, I am not computer literate and when I run into any glitches, I usually have to wait until my son comes to visit me to fix them Here's what happened. My son asked me to scan an article in a magazine I have about China Hackers & to email it to him - which I did - but it must have been too big of a file because I received a message that my ISP rejected the email & sent it back to me & now my Pegasus Email program is stuck on "Opening New Mail Folders" and it's been like that for the last 30 minutes. What do I do? I have the 4.4 version by the way.
