  • Re: ClamD - Installation problem

Thomas and Nico - thank you for the replies. I think Nico's got it - the processor in this old dinosaur is a P5 chip (Intel P54C2 0050566). But what to do? - this old Dell XPS system keeps runnig 24/7 year after year - and (unitl now) worked just fine as a mailserver for a small handful of users...  And it has the advantage of being ...

  • ClamD - Installation problem

Have successfully upgraded to the current release of Mercury.  Been running an old version for so long that I have been using F-Prot policies for virus scanning - did not realize until today that program was no longer being supported and that my virus database was a couple of years old... Am now trying to install ClamAV (using the installer ...

  • Passing thru clamAV twice

Maybe I should be asking this at the ClamWall website, but frankly, this site is much more responsive with similar users and similar issues. I have the latest Mercury (4.62) and ClamWall (1.4.096) and ClamAV (0.95) provided by Hideout, but I don't think this is a version-related issue.  The system has been performing this way all the while, ...

  • ClamWall and Local Messages

ClamWall is running very nicely on XP Pro with Mercury 4.52. However, I can't get it to ignore ''local'' emails. Under ''ClamWall config'', ''Basic settings'', I have ''Leave messages from local senders untouched'' checked. We have about 40-50 email accounts that are mostly accessed in-house from 192.168.1.x IP addresses using SMTP and POP3. I ...

  • Re: ClamWall starts many instances of ClamD and FreshClam

Hello Thomas, I am not able to explain the behaviour of ClamAV when controlled by Mercury but I can confirm that the multiple instances of Clam are the result when using that option. I have tried it on several Mercury servers, always with the same result. If enough emails arrive then the CPU utilisation tops out and memory starts to go down. I ...

  • Why so few viruses picked up by ClamWall??

I am up-to-date with ClamWall (clamav-091-1) and FreshClam. I have also installed the additional ClamSup signatures to detect phishing messages. According to the logs, all is well. My observation: MANY phishing messages have been intercepted and quarenteened. HOWEVER: it has been days since it picked up a genuine virus (Worm.Mydoom.I found 8 ...
