  • Re: Mercury and Thunderbird - getting mails doesn't work

Peter Strömblad:I'm having a hard time following your question. Is it IMAP that doesn't work? If so, try enabling session logging in MercuryI, and see what goes wrong from one of your client computers. If you see no activity at all, I'd say you have a firewall problem with your 2008 server, not allowing connections over TCP port 143 to Mercury, ...

  • Moving local email back onto a remote server using IMAP

Hi, I wanted to check that this is possible, before I break something. Using IMAP, can you move emails from local folders into the inbox, or some other folder, on a remote server? Charles

  • Moving from Windows Mail to Mercury

Hi,  I've been using Mercury/32 for a while now as a POP3 server. With the growth of different devices (mobiles, webmail etc) that I can use to talk to the server, I would prefer to switch to IMAP4. Setting it up is easy and I'm happy with that side of things. But are there any tips or pitfalls from trying to move my existing email from ...

  • Re: Socket read timeout

Thanks for the responses :) When I connect using IMAP, the connection is made but I get an error: 'The IMAP server that manages this mailbox or folder has reported an error during the operation you have attempted to perform. The operation cannot be completed'. When I try telnet from the command line (which I have never used before) using ...

  • Subscribed mail folders for IMAP users disappearing

Hello, Over the past few days several of our IMAP users have been losing their IMAP folder subscriptions (including myself). Some of the users are using Outloook w/ IMAP and I'm using Thunderbird. The only symptom is that the subscribed folders disappear from the folder list but we are able to re-subscribe to them without difficulty. However, ...

  • Re: IMAP and deleting messages

dilberts_left_nut:Try setting this to just ''Trash'' I changed that setting. I'm still getting the error, although it is ''moving'' the message (or tagging it in Gmail language). When I hit the ''D'' key to delete the message the number in the ''Trash'' folder increases by one, I get the error message popup and it appears that the message is ...

  • Re: IMAP and deleting messages

Thomas R. Stephenson:... I have selected the option to ''Delete them imediately, do not retain a safety copy''  When I hit delete, I mean to delete the message.  ;-) Forgive the double post, but this part of your message caught my eye. Do you have any problems with ''deleted'' messages not really being deleted in GMail? Many people ...

  • How to read the folder structure

If you like me are on the road sometimes, or even abroad - you may get a synchronization error. Most likely the folder structure is out of synch. Windows Mobile, or Outlook Mobile 6 is very poor on supporting a proper implementation of IMAP. Nevertheless the benfits are there, in that you can have your messages stored on the servers, with ...

  • Re: IMAP and deleting messages

According to some of the random IMAP postings on the internet, errors appear to be quite frequently associated with settings around the trash/deleted messages folder. What settings do you use for your gmail account?
