  • Mercury 4.8 Certificate Replacement Woes

I had been using a self-signed security certificate for the past 2 years, realized that it expired (whoops).  I purchased a proper certificate, and set it up on Mercury (replacing the .PEM with the .CRT on the config screen for each module's SSL).  But, mail clients are still reporting the expired certificate!  (Thinking maybe ...

  • Problem with create account on ThunderBird login to SMTP Server use SSL

I setting SMTP Server enable support  for SSL/TLS and create certificate for connection success. In General tab, I setting listen on TCP/IP port 465. The same, I setting POP3 server enable support  for SSL/TLS and browse path to certificate which is created above. In General tab, I setting listen on TCP/IP port ...

  • Re: Mercury unresponsive this morning. Sort of.

I used the cert generated by Mercury.  I didn't check the date, I sort of assumed it would be valid or report a useful error if it wasn't.  I'll check.   CA Cert, 1024-bit RSA, valid until 2034.  Re-enabling it didn't work, but creating a new cert and enabling SSL seems to have been successful.   So yeah!  If the ...

  • SSL IMAP failure - create new certificate to fix.

This morning a friend who uses my server told me that the webmail I set up for her (roundcube in this case) was giving her errors when she logged in.  Specifically, ''Connection to storage server failed.''   I received the same error in roundcube with my account, so I tried to connect with thunderbird (my current client) and it stops ...

  • SSL3_GET_RECORD: wrong version number

Hi,   I have just upgraded my old laptop running XP and PMail 4.63 build 325 with a new laptop with Win7 and PMail 4.70 build 546. I have copied over the mail files to the new laptop, and configured the new PMail so that, as far as I can tell, the settings are identical. I am interfacing to my Hotmail account on both laptops, the old ...

  • Error: "Invalid TLS extension list item header" with googlemail

When gmail attempts to send a message to my Mercury mail server (v 4.72) the connection proceeds normally until STARTTLS when everything goes south.  The session log looks like this: 02:19:37.640: >> STARTTLS<cr><lf>02:19:37.640: << 220 OK, begin SSL/TLS negotiation now.<cr><lf>02:19:37.781: 22: Error -32 ...

  • Re: Can Mercury be used to "upgrade" client-ISP connections to SSL?

SSL tunneliing via stunnel worked fine on my XP system - thanks for the head's up. This is a much simpler solution than interposing Mercury in the path for our home network, although I must admit I was also curious about possible advantages and uses of Mercury in this environment - but that is a bigger project.. Thanks again for the quick ...

  • Can Mercury be used to "upgrade" client-ISP connections to SSL?

I ask this because Verizon may soon require SSL POP3/SMTP connections, but our active SPAM/AV protection by NIS2012 requires email trafficto be locally visible via port 110 and port 25 connections. Wehave multiple home systems, all using NIS2012, and switchingis not practical. My thought was that the port 25 & 110 paths could be maintainedlocally ...

  • Is the StartCom SSL root certificate already included in Pegasus?

Hi, as you maybe know Thawte stopped their free Class 1 WoT SSL certificates to sign emails in the end of last year. As far as I know right now there are only CACert and StartCom offering free S/MIME certificates. The CACert is AFAIK not included in any mail client, so its pretty useless since it will always result in an error by ...

  • Re: Testing SSL

Thanks, Thomas.I'm making some progress. TLS works, over port 143. The MercuryI session log shows an encrypted session, and clients ask about and accept the self-signed certificate. But the client I need to use on the phone only seems to implement SSL, not TLS, and I can't get SSL to work. Telnet to localhost 993 fails to connect (even with the LAN ...
