  • Re: Policy problem with return code

I removed the /b option from the EXIT command. Now the batch file and the policy work as expected. Even the content of my virus scanners result file gets copied into the Policy Exception Advice email that I receive from Mercury. Just some other thing: The ''Message sender'' field within that mail is empty. I checked the policy1.mer file, which ...

  • Re: ClamD - Installation problem

Thomas and Nico - thank you for the replies. I think Nico's got it - the processor in this old dinosaur is a P5 chip (Intel P54C2 0050566). But what to do? - this old Dell XPS system keeps runnig 24/7 year after year - and (unitl now) worked just fine as a mailserver for a small handful of users...  And it has the advantage of being ...

  • ClamD - Installation problem

Have successfully upgraded to the current release of Mercury.  Been running an old version for so long that I have been using F-Prot policies for virus scanning - did not realize until today that program was no longer being supported and that my virus database was a couple of years old... Am now trying to install ClamAV (using the installer ...

  • Re: Lost Folder - HIERARCH.PM del didnt work

So there we have it - the question resolved, and an understanding of how to prevent the problem from re-ocurring. But I have to comment (I can't stop myself) - how can it be that the AV producers (who fully understand the risks of deleting files) send out their 'point & click' software, with defaults set to delete? It's not as if we are now ...

  • Alert: Turn off the flapping wings when using Network install - they create untold volume of packet traffic and network slowness

I have determined that the Pegasus Mail horse icon that appears in your system tray (bottom right hand corner with clock on your monitor) creates a huge volume of unnecessary network traffic when set to flap its wings to alert you of new mail. You can use the following instructions to be sure that your system is set to not have the wings ...

  • ClamWall and Local Messages

ClamWall is running very nicely on XP Pro with Mercury 4.52. However, I can't get it to ignore ''local'' emails. Under ''ClamWall config'', ''Basic settings'', I have ''Leave messages from local senders untouched'' checked. We have about 40-50 email accounts that are mostly accessed in-house from 192.168.1.x IP addresses using SMTP and POP3. I ...

  • Re: File rename failure

Thanks for your reply. If anti-virus was restricting/blocking access to files, I would expect to see this problem more often and for it to be more widespread - i.e. affect other mailboxes. Today, Mercury generated another error for the same mailbox. Can anyone tell me what causes this error, please? If I have that ...

  • F-Prot v6's fpscan.exe

Has anyone written a policy to get F-Prot's new command line scanner fpscan.exe working with Mercury/32?

  • AV software suggestion

This may not be the right place to raise this but I've just read the various Norton threads and am amazed that they are still getting up to their old tricks. Take a look at NOD32 (www.eset.com). I've been using it for over six years and have never been infected (to my knowledge!). They don't try to fleece you every year with a 'new' version ...

  • "Pop 3 error" due tot Norman?

Since about two weeks the first time Pegasus checks a mailbox, there is an error saying:  Pop 3 Network or protocol error  ........ Trace showing end of transaction: 5: Connect failed, 6.    Subsequent mail-checkings  are fine.  This is happening at home and at work, both XPpro--systems. The only two changes I ...
