Ken Kaplan: ... after receiving new mail, it can take fro 20-40 seconds (or more) before the contents are displayed. ...  ... which also happens when you open New Mail after receiving mail.  The reason is here: Ken Kaplan: ... btw - I've been a Pegasus user since 1995. • PMAIL running on an SSD

Howdy! I've been running Windows 7 Ultimate on an SSD (Corsair Force-3 120GB) for a few months.  Everything is dramatically faster except Pegasus Mail 4.63, which seems to run at the same speed when the mailboxes are on my SSD vs. when they're on my SATA ''D'' drive (in the latter case, I use a directory junction so it still looks like it's ...

  • Re: Version 4.61 Performance

I used the installer and it finished successfully. I do not have automatic image download enabled. That said, changing the WINSOCK setting seems to solve the problem. Thank you.  Why does this affect the performance?

  • Version 4.61 Performance

I just upgraded to V4.61. I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit, on a fairly new I7 PC. PMail now seems to be using an inordinate amount of CPU (13%) even when idle. Can I simply reinstall V4.52 over the new version? Do you have any other suggestions?

  • Slow closing 4.52

Hi all, I'm experiencing a problem after upgrading to 4.52. I've a network installation of Pegasus version 4.02, after I upgraded to 4.52 the closing process takes 3 minutes to complete. I think the issue is related to, infact after I purged the file erasing ''name_unavailable'' entries and some other errors (the file shrinked from ...

  • pmail has become sluggish

I am user of pmail since 1994. I have been installing and using pmail on every new machine. I have a fairly large mail data base, as almost all my mails are archived. Pmail has always been fast. However, over the past few months, it has become really sluggish - it takes 10 seconds to open a mail lin the new mail folder. I also notice high amounts ...

  • Pegasus 4.41 and Vista; refuses to open with second user

Hi All Pegasus 4.41 opens perfectly for me as <User1> when I am logged on to Vista as User1-Admin (Administrator) i.e. after I enter ''User1'' in the Pegasus open dialog box. But if I enter ''User1'' in the same dialog box when logged in to Vista as User1-NonAdmin the Pegasus dialog simply vanishes and Pegasus doesn't open. This ...

  • Alert: Turn off the flapping wings when using Network install - they create untold volume of packet traffic and network slowness

I have determined that the Pegasus Mail horse icon that appears in your system tray (bottom right hand corner with clock on your monitor) creates a huge volume of unnecessary network traffic when set to flap its wings to alert you of new mail. You can use the following instructions to be sure that your system is set to not have the wings ...

  • Pegusus very slow to open emails with large attachments across WAN

I have been a Pegusus user for a long time now, and I think the product is great!  I have implemented it across the company but I have am having problems with remote users opening emails with large attachments. When someone tried to open an email with an attachment, and they are not on the LAN but attached over our WAN, Pegusus can take as ...

  • Poor IMAP performance with large mailboxes

I wanted to migrate to M32 for IMAP support, but am finding *very* poor performance via IMAP.  I'm running on dedicated a 2.8gHz P4 w/ 2gb ram & SATA HD's , so it's not a hardware limitation by any means.  I've got a large mailbox (~10,000 messages) that takes forever to access.  I had to increase the TCPIP timeout from 30 secs ...
