Simce pegasus is dead for the forseeable future for anyone using Microsoft email I need to move all of the emails to outlook. I came across this 15 year old thread talking about using mercury and IMAP to move pegasus folders to outlook. Never used mercury before. Anyone have any idea if this method would still work? Thx

When a new mail is read, the mail disappears when I move to another mail.
I check "Pegasus New mail", trash, ...
I use Pegasus since 1994, without problems.

I use IMAP

Using PMail 4.41 (yes, I know it's old)

Maybe for the last month or so, when viewing mail in the New Mail folder, I have been receiving emails where the From field and/or the Subject field are blank.

When I examine a regular email using the Raw View, I see that those fields are plain text (appropriate email addresses or subject text). When I examine an email where the From field or Subject field are blank, I see something like this:

From: =?UTF-8?B?4oCq4oCq4oCq4oCq4oCqTmV1cm9wYXRoeVRyZWF0bWVudEdyb3Vw4oCq4oCq4oCq4oCq4oCq?= <deleted for privacy>

Subject: =?UTF-8?B?4oCq4oCqU+KAquKAqnXigKpmZuKAqmVy4oCq4oCqIEbigKpy4oCqb23igKrigKogTuKAquKAquKAquKAqmVyduKAquKAquKAquKAquKAquKAquKAqmUg4oCq4oCq4oCq4oCq4oCq4oCqUGFpbj/igKo=?=

To: <my email address>

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? What email system (host or transport) is creating these messed up fields?

Fortunately, most of these are spam, but still ..

Thanks in advance!

I just updated to 4.91 from 4.81 and found when I check POP3 host, no mails were downloaded, an error was shown.

Using "Selective mail download" worked fine though.

I found that in the host setup, under download control, I had a server-side filtering rule set. Clearing this solved the issue.

I guess something broke in during the transition to 4.91.

I hope this might help someone else out there.

Cheers,

Torben

Have happily used PMAIL since around 1985, but due to issues beyond my control I may have to convert to Thunderbird.

I have ~30K messages, organized into lots of subject specific folders. I would (obviously) like to maintain that same organization.

Are there best practices to follow in doing this?

All advice and cautions are welcome.

(Context: have been a (mostly) Windows and (also) Linux user for since 1985, so suspect I can do most things required, if only I knew what to do. Have had enough experience to know that there can be numerous gotcha's, and doing it right the first time is infinitely easier than trying to slog through it, hence the request for guidance.)

many thanks
Randy

Having just had a rant about some the failure of some links in messages received in Pegasus 4.72 it occurred to me to check in about upgrades, and I see I'm WAY behind!

Am I right in thinking that the annoyance of clicking on links and getting nothing but a yellow triangle has now been resolved in 4.91?

Regardless, its clearly time to upgrade - is the process as described elsewhere - close & backup, install 4.91 and point the installation at the current program folder?

I'm still running it under Windows 7 - but as far as I can see that is still supported (I shall move almost entirely to Linux in the future) - but after 30 or more years using Pegasus i dont want to change!

Any advice, tricks and traps and warnings greatefully received!

Long time user. I have 2 Stationery forms and 149 Draft messages going back to 2007. When I try to Copy them to a regular file folder, only 28 of them are copied. I am unable to determine why some are copied and some are not. Has anyone else had this issue, and what might be the workaround? Thanks in advance.

I recently updated to 4.91.1746 I have always had PMail installed on an external drive with the -Roam switch.
I have 675 folders in my Pmail installation.
Lately, when I launch it, it shows me this:
"Preparing Folder Management Layer" and then it takes a long, long time to to load the folders, 25 at a time.
Any clues as what's happening and how to correct it?
Thanks for your help.

I have a rogue mail message which persistently appears in the OutBox as a "To Forward" message.
If deleted manually from the OutBox it will appear again next time I log in.

In order to delete the rogue message I need it's filename (*.cnm) so the I can search the mail data directory - OK.
BUT first I need to name of the file - so how do I get the filename of a required message eh? [Next upgrade: insert the name of a message file into the file, like: "Filename: PM-AYEUP123.CNM", so we only need to look at the raw file in the appropriate window to get its name.

Thanks,

Kenneth Spencer

In case this should assist anyone: I've spent two days trying to figure out why emails from a specific sender is silently being deleted after downloading. Believe me we've tried all options!

I found a work-around: Tools> Mail Filtering Rules> Edit new mail filtering rules> Rules applied when folder is opened > Add a rule>
From - The errant email address, Action - Copy, Set - New mail folder.

I have used PMail for over 30 years as a small bus. I really like Spambust as I can add to it with the latest smam topics. However, I installed PM 8.0 a few months ago and the Spambust soes not re-direct anything to the (Spam or Junk mail ) folder. I have enabled it and even replaced it with a spambust.dat file that worked in the past.

When I run the SYNTAX test I always get the same message that has been there without errors. The (EXPECTED WEIGHT, IF, IFNOT, AND OR ANDNOT) error.
nothing gets sorted or re-directed.
Any help apprecieated.

Hallo,
ich bekam soeben eine Beschwerde von einem Freund, dem ich viele Bilder zugeschickt habe. Zu jeder Datei erhielt er die Datei Information/File Information "...Der folgende Teil dieser Nachricht..." bzw. "The following section of this message..."
Er weiß sehr gut, wie er mit der Datei umgehen muß und braucht keinen "system administrator".
Wie kann ich diese unnützen und in ihrer Menge störenden Hinweise unterdrücken?
Danke, mfG Hajo

I have just installed PM for the first time, so complete newbie.

  1. On loading PM, the splash screen appears, then sits there for upto 4minutes before continuing to the mail display.
  2. On apparently random occasions, PM freezes with the win11 window header saying PM is not responding. Leave it alone for up to 3-4minutes and PM continues normally.

I would suggest I have not installed something correctly. Any suggestions as this is becoming a game stopper.

Cheers......
Malcolm.

We have 90 plus peg users. One user's account has started to freeze in minimised mode on start up. When maximised it's unresponsive & needs to closed via taskmgr I have reset state.pmj to no avail. We can open mail in roundcube perfectly but he's a Pegasus head & needs it back. Ideas welcome

Probable Mr. Harris is only one that would know for sure?

Know that IERender is primary for most users.
Does IERender use anything of Bearhtml or does it completely replace it?

The Bearhtml seems to have been left for some time.

The native editor files had a big upgrade some years ago. In my setup have these files (Note: TXML2.DLL is no native, but was called by TER32.DLL, so I found it and put in directory. Don't know if it actual does anything other than resolve the not found call)
766464 Nov 9 2021 HTS32.DLL
2951680 Mar 24 2022 TER32.DLL
94208 Mar 22 2022 TXML2.DLL

Since these are newer wouldl they make bearhtml unnecessary.
Under Linux the IERenderer is not an option, and at least for me I've found better results with the TER32 and HTS32 options. But many html messages don't display well, but opening in browser works fine.

Know work on version 5 is ongoing and IERenderer author is looking at upgrading since support DLLs of it are going out of support by MicroSoft. So might be moving to a chromium link that might work with wine and linux?

Don't know if version 5 is going to an upgraded TER32 or if it is going to use a different default viewer? Also, don't recall if it is going to move to a 64bit build from the 32 bit current. Upgrade a project a couple years ago, when they stopped offerent a 32bit build of Fedora, and was a lot of work.

Just wonder, perhaps those with Beta team might have info, or if in next monthly update.
