Thank you.  I got the information file you pointed me to, and with its help I solved all my Pegasus problems.  I'm feeling good and wish you the same.

I'm sorry, my numbers were wrong - 7 addresses in the list, only 5 emails received.

Here's what my list looks like (names are changed, domains are real)

myacct@gmail.com
myacct@cox.net
wifeacct@cox.net
wifeacct@rochester.rr.com
wifeacct@cox.net
myacct@cox.net
sharedacct@cox.net

I sent a test mail to that list from myacct@rochester.rr.com.

Using the file>selective mail download POP3 function I checked the inbox of each of the accounts.

Each account had 1 email that I sent, (5 total). The wifeacct@cox.net and myacct@cox.net should have had 2 emails.

Your comment about "gmail will block" prompted me to check with cox.net about their filtering. They insist they don't block duplicate incoming messages.

I also added some additional duplicate entries to the list for myacct@gmail.com and wifeacct@rochester.rr.com and resent the test email. None of the duplicate mails showed up in the inbox any of those accounts.

So, where are we? I know it's not a big issue 'cause I really shouldn't have duplicate entries in my list that would send duplicate messages anyway, but it does make me question the integrity of the process.
You have all the tools you need to test this and satisfy yourself with what is happening: turn on session logging (Tools / Internet options - check "Create internet session logs") and check exactly what messages get sent out by Pegasus Mail to you relay server. (The logs will be in your home directory as TCPnnnn.WPM files.)
I have tried this now without success.  The New Mail location is C:\PMAIL\MAIL.  I copied all the .CNM files there and deleted the Hierarch.PM file, then ran Pegasus.  I got the same result as before.  No messages dated later than January 2011.  Any other suggestions?
I would like to know two things: the display of Help, About, Info button and then what you actually see defined as home and new mail location when you run PCONFIG.exe which is a 16bit program.  If you are on 64bit OS then use DosBos to run program.

In order for new mail message to be read and useable they must either be in your new mail location or else you must use the add mailbox function to add that location to your folder window.

Check this setting:  Tools > Options > Outgoing mail > Message formatting > Disable all text styling options (never send styled mail).
Thank you for the suggestion, Brian. But unfortunately, the modification has no effect on the behavior as described previously.

Please note, that by changing the selected signature options to the following

Tools/Options/Outgoing Mail/Signatures/Add this variant of default signature upon message creation, Variant: Internet address, plain content

Pegasus will behave as expected, adding the variable signature to both a new mail message and a new message generated as a reply to a previously received message. So it appears as though the problem at hand is specifically related to the option combination of

/Add this variant of default signature upon message creation, Variant: Internet address, formatted content

Because, as I explained earlier, if the option

/Add this variant of default signature upon message creation,

is omitted, Pegasus will successfully add the formatted variable signature to the new mail message when it is sent to the SMTP server.

Is it possible that there is some erroneous character (e.g. carriage return) being added by the formatted signature that is only being passed during the creation of a new mail message that is disrupting the insertion of the variable signature?
I am running Pegasus on one computer. The email shows as coming from Undisclosed Recipients and Invalid Address when received by IMAP. THis happens with only one computer setup. What is happening?
"Undisclosed recipients:;" (without the quotes) is a valid destination address for emails from a mailing list or similar.  Where does it show "Invalid Address"?  If you are reading it with IMAP then it is your mail server that actually received it.

Dear Community,

from several IMAP sources (local as well as INET) I have different IMAP mailboxes, but the effect described here is with some mailboxes all the same:
Some do, but some don't show up correct, instead the selected message is opened with (German) failure note

<Meaning a text-line with an error, but no mail itself and no attachments...>

However these mails are not corrupted, they can be opened with different mail-clients (!), e.g. direct INET-mailbox-clients or with another mail-client TB/Outlook only in PMail it isn't shown.

I remember there was/is some "cache" or temp-file which should be manually deleted/renamed ...

Hope you can post some help, thanks in advance.

BR, Netzliebling

The scan list rule seems to be executing.  It's just not finding equality in the list.  I deleted everything and started over.  Made a new list. added emails to it from the messages in the new mail folder.  It works the same as it did before.

I know it is doing something because when I use the rule:

List scan  NOT  @LIST3970.PML   Set color to red

it sets the message color to red for all unread messages in the new mail folder.  That means it is not finding the addresses in the Dlist, but they are definitely in there (no aliases).  It also means the rule is getting fired.

I give up.  Thanks for your help.

Mr. Martin,

Did not know the IERenderer was not installed in my version of PMail, using the latest v4.63 for the last, almost a year, and just went to the location for downloading IERndr and installed same.  Do not need to do what you have suggested in your post, it seems the problem was fixed by actaully installing IERenerer latest version along with the latest LibTidy.dll file that was installed but not the latest.  They are working just fine now.

Thank you for your post and suggestion, suspected NewEgg was part of the problem, but; never thought I was also.  Surprise, surprise, awakening . .

Will this help?

Tools > Options > User interface > Reporting/logging >  Show System Message window after applying filtering rules

From the help file:  If you check this control, Pegasus Mail will automatically open the System Message window any time filtering rules  are applied to a folder and affect at least one message. This is a useful way of seeing at a glance what actions the filtering system has taken with your messages.
Thanks, that's what I have done and my work-around is based on those logging settings which in conjunction with an unread 'dummy' message in my inbox (which alway triggers a 'dummy' rule) makes the message window appear even when there is no other rule being triggered.

I thought there might be another switch to allow the message window to alway show.

Thanks

Hello again

I had forgotten a utility I wrote some time ago, which downloads email messages from Outlook folders to Pegasus Mail NewMail directory. It is available at my website at http://www3.telus.net/public/irelam/pm2msm.zip  It will migrate one folder at a time so if  you have a lot of folders to do, it might be too laborious. One caveat: you should ensure your Newmail directory is empty before running the migration, so you can then move the messages to their proper new folders.

HTH  any questions on its use, fire me a note

In the new installation I had forgotten to set is to run as admin. Once done, the problem is solved (well, everytime I run PM, Windows asks permission, but that's not a serious issue).

I have just to climb to learning curve now, in particular identities and multiple accounts. Something to play with in the week-end [:D]

Thanks for your help. [D]

It may be worth noting that with "File/Selective Mail Download..." you can check your message senders, titles and sizes; also by double clicking on any messages showing in the list you can read all the message header data including the addresses through which the message has come.   I find this useful for checking any doutbful messages that I don't wish to come any where near my machine.  Such messages can be deleted on the ISP server without affecting your machine.
If the URL does not have an associated hyperlink then nothing happens when it is clicked.
As an addition: They might even not display as URLs in such cases if the sender chose a formatting (such as black on white without underlining) that visually hides them (for whatever obscure reason). You might nevertheless detect them as hyperlinks by watching the mouse pointer change to a "hand" symbol when moving accross the supposed URL and a popup hint showing up displaying the hidden address.

The Folder window may be opening outside of the visible area of the Pegasus Mail main window.  To resolve this, restart Pegasus Mail then hit Ctrl+L to open the Folder window.  Now go to the Window pull-down menu and select Tile.  Hopefully the Folder window will be visible.  Resize and reposition the open windows to your liking.

The background color of all the toolbar icons in my PMail (4.63 build 325) has turned black for some reason. It's not an issue with respect to the function of the program itself but the graphics on some of the icons is difficult to read above the black. I've looked through the configuration settings and don't find anything that would affect the background color(s).  Sometimes when/if I reboot the machine the backgrounds will come back white but eventually turn to black again. Kinda wierd ... anyone else experience  this? Is there something I'm missing in the configuration?

Thanks ...
