Using this setup, if I use the -ROAM switch on the command line at a workstation (or even on the server), and launch winpm32.exe from the mapped drive (P:\Programs) Pegasus displays the splash screen and goes no further and gives no error message.  Without the -ROAM switch, the workstation (or server) is able to connect to the user's mailbox without issue.  Is this the way it is supposed to work?  Why does the -ROAM switch cause a problem under this setup?
Please check for possible issues.

Where is the best place to report bugs?  If here, then I'd like to report a consistent problem adding other user's mailboxes.  If the report should be made elsewhere, could someone please tell me where it should go?

I have an installation of  Pegasus 4.61 on a W7-64bit server/workstation, installed over a previous version.  There are 4 users and each has numerous folders.  Here are the steps I have had to take in order to get each of the other user's folders installed in User A's mailbox along with what I see at each step along the way:

1.  Starting with UserA's mailbox just byitself, I go to Folders, Add another user, and specify UserB to add by name (Tried also using Directory with the same results).  Specify friendly name.

RESULT:  New user's Mailbox appears with just the New Mail folder beneath it.  All other folders in User B's mailbox appear as folders of UserA intermingled with UserA's existing folders.  They seem to show accurate contents and accurate message counts.

2.  Disconnect UserB mailbox.

RESULT:  UserB Mailbox disappears, and all folders of UserB formerly mixed with User A now appear as "yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy(garbage or remnants of folder name)".  Any attempt to open a folder in this state crashes Pegasus with a non-descript Pegasus encountered a problem and had to close message.

3.  Close Pegasus and re-open.

RESULT: UserB folders now gone, UserB Mailbox gone.

4. Repeat steps 1-3 as necessary to get UserB's folders to show as belonging in UserB's mailbox.  Often it works on the first repeat, but in some cases, I've had to repeat 2 or 3 times for each user whose mailbox I need to add to UserA.

RESULT: Eventually UserB folder will appear showing proper folders.  However, somewhere along the way, the name of UserA's mailbox gets wiped out so that I see a mailbox icon with a blank field after it. (i.e. "My Mailbox" is no longer the title of the user's mailbox, and I don't know how to put it back.

The same procedure has been required for adding UserA, C, and D to UserB and so on for each of the 4 users.

Thanks for working this into the system somehow.

Peter Smick.

Thank you Oh Great and Mighty Jerry. It took some hunting to find where to copy the backedup files to the new install file locations, but it worked. As soon as I finished the copying and removed the Read Only settings, Pegasus opened up like normal. I did lost a couple hundred e-mails that were in the process of downloading when my system crashed, but they were probably all spam.

Thanks again for your help.

 Have Fun,

Jeff
What you really need to do is have your Pegasus Mail users use the Virscan extension to scan the file when opened with your a-v program of choice.
I agree that Virscan, where practical, is the way to go.

The caveats:  Some command line scanners are slow and/or intrusiveness.  This can be

tolerated in low email environments or in environments where attachments are the exception but in environments where attachments are routine the attachment scanning can

be a productivity killer.  Some command line scanners are not designed to scan a single file so will not work with Virscan.  Vipre has one of those.

OK, I see the problem - there's a difference in the set-up behaviour between installing where there is no existing version and clicking the "New install" button on a machine with an existing copy.  The first gives a window with all the options ticked by default, which I think is referred to as "new clean default install", and the second leaves them all unticked - including the one to pre-configure a mailbox.  So you can get very different 'default' new installs depending on where you start.
... All of which only goes to point out, once again, why when answering questions from users it is important to receive the output of their Help, About, Info display in order to see or direct users as to where files go and where restored items must be replaced etc..
Agreed, and also the terms 'New install' and 'update' don't tell the whole story :)
After digging around some more, I discovered (and I apologize for this) that the problem is in the IERenderer and NOT in the "native" Pegasus HTML renderer.
Nevertheless, could you be so kind as to forward the respective message as a zipped CNM file from your new mail directory so I can fix this issue if possible at all, at least for other users if you prefer not to use IERenderer?
WHen the email (text message is selected full screen it appears as it should but when it is in a preview mode I get HTML text from another email beneath the first message.
I don't think I understand, what does selected full screen mean? Do you mean open in a reader window? Can you provide a screenshot of such a preview (you can attach it to a post at the top of the editor on the Options tab)? How often does this occur and can you repeat it at will? And does it cease to occur after closing and reopening the preview window or Peasus Mail as a whole?
Perhaps unrelated I still get a blank email folder created whenever I start Pegasus
What's the name of the folder in Pegasus Mail?
Hi!
Probably this is described already
, but ...
So far we did use Pegasus with Novell NetWare (NDS mode). Now we have plans to setup mail system little bit differently and not rely on NDS mode. So, my plan is to install Pegasus (4.6.1) locally on every computer and user run it from there (using POP3 etc.), but they don't (and will not) have admin privileges, so. there is no option to save/update cfg-file in initial Pegasus dir. Also, is somehow possible to avoid this first dialog about mailbox location? I mean, lets after starting Pegasus create it by default under user profile? So, I mean, is there a option to automate Pegasus mailbox etc. conf?
More thanks, Alar.
AFAIK the problem of running PM in a Netware environment is that it automaticaly detects Netware (PM on the server or on the computer gives the same result.

The solution is to add -A to the target in the shortcut options, this forces PM to ignore Netware connections.
For example, when Pmail.cfg could accept and use %USERPROFILE% in

mailbox location path ... wonderful! =)
Alar.
Unfortunatly it's not possible. The solution I use is to create users and their PM parameters via script. I've a template folder of a PM user, when I create a user I add his/her name to pmail.usr, I create his/her folder in the hierarchy, in the folder I've a pmail.ini file containing variables in place of the definitive value and change them via script (ie $user is replaced by the username etc) then I apply the correct ntfs rights.

You should also have only one installation of PM on the server (network installation) and put a shortcut to it on the shared desktop. Easier to do and to maintain.

Regards
Hi, my PM version 4.61 moves all sent messages in the folder Papierkorb (Trash) and copies of sent messages disappear at all allthough they should be saved in Ausgangskopien (copies of send messages). Does anybody have a solution? I use IMAP. Conny
I don't think I understand, can you please post to the (sent messages don't go out to the recipient or queue?)? Maybe you just need to check your settings on Extras => Einstellungen => Ausgangskopien and Extras => IMAP Profile => [Ausgewähltes Profil öffnen] => Einstellungen?
So I thought maybe I need to reindex the New Mail folder - I can't seem to be able to reindex the New Mail folder - no option to do this
The new mail "folder" isn't a folder like the other ones, it's just a collection of new mail files, hence there's no index file which can be fixed in any way. And as your further attempts show that wouldn't have helped anyway as the problem appears to be inside the message(s).
Then tried to open one of the mail items in this new Folder - 4.61 crashes
If you can identify specific messages causing the crash (HTML formatted messages, BTW?) we would like to get them as unmodified as possible, preferably as zipped CNM files from your new mail directory (path shown on Help => About Pegasus Mail = Info as New mailbox location). As you may need to move or copy these messages (or a single one) back to the new mail folder please note that you can select a message via right mouse click to avoid being opened in preview mode for safely deleting it if you need to do this in PM 4.61. Right-clicking a message (in the new mail folder) and selecting Message properties will display the CNM filename of the message, BTW. Please send your report to beta-reports[at]pmail.gen.nz.

Thomas,

Sorry, to bother you about this.  It was my ignorance that caused this.  In my older version of Pegasus I remember that I was able to d-click on the attachment filename and it would open, so that's what I tried.  You quickly responded by telling me about the 'open' button, which works just fine.

Thank you very much for your help.
Also, when I try to About / Update S/MIME, it returns "Cannot read Internet data" - ??
This is because the website for providing this information doesn't exist since I never set it up in the first place: The S/MIME extension isn't really suitable for broader public consumption since it's only poorly supported by Pegasus Mail itself and requires the smarter kind of people for dealing with its shortcomings.
I'll send you a couple of the misbehaving email messages, so that you can have a look, whether or not there's a remedy.

How do you want me to get them out to you?
Preferably zipped CNM files from the new mail directory, IERenderer's About dialog provides a link for contacting me.

BTW: It could also be a CSS (style) attribute causing this: white-space:nowrap.
