Well, my assumption was wrong, it's indeed broken quoted-printable encoding: There are equal signs which aren't properly encoded ("=" becomes "=3D" in quoted-printable encoding): While the first part is properly encoded (<p class=3DMsoNormal style=3D'text-autospace:none'>, e.g) the missing part is not (<p class=MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;margin-left:18.0pt;text-indent:-18.0pt;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1'>). BTW: If you disable both renderers and have TER display the HTML it'll work as it appears to ignore the broken style declaration which it doesn't process anyway), IOW: The attachment preview can display it as well, and if using my S/MIME extension you'll get it displayed, too, provided it has been received via POP3 (for setting proper message flags).

1.  Move all the messages you want to save to a temp folder and
    delete all the messages in the original folder.

2.  Use the right click "recover deleted space" to remove all
    messages form the folder.

3.  If step 2 works then simply move all of the messages from the
    temp folder back to the original folder and delete the temp
    folder.

4.  If step 2 fails then delete the original folder and rename the
    temp folder to match the original name.  Reset the filter
    pointing to this folder.

What exactly? If you don't understand any of the options please look them up in the online help (via Help button), what else would be confusing? If you answer a distinct question you'll get a distinct answer, I'm sure.

I just noticed something very unusual with your last new mail count figure. On first glance I thought it was 608 which would be extremely large amount but on reread I see it is 1608 mew messages. That by itself is sure to cause some problems. The max new mail count has been raised a couple of times but used to be 250 then 500 and possibly 750 now. Beyond that winpm-32 slows down drastically and new mail folder is only refreshed when done manually. New mail is not a regular folder, which may have many, maybe many thousands of messages. New mail is just visualization of the *.cnm files that have not yet been filtered or moved into message folders.

Can you rename the new mail files to something like *.cnm.bak with winpj-32 closed and the  reopen to test. I think then things will work for you. If so then move/rename the files back again in small groups of maybe a  couple of hundred and retest. Move them off to permanent storage or use filtering rules on them to store them. Then try another batch until all/ most have been moved out of new mail folder.

 If that test fixes things then create some new mail, on open, filter rues to distribute the mail to folders or use a general rule set to move them manually into folders.  With most users the new mail only  contains a few messages and typically only those received in last session since starting Pegasus Mail, usually a few hours or less. It is unusual for a user to leave their machine on and Pegasus Mail running overnight.  The exception might be somebody using IMAP and always receiving mail and leaving it on the server for storage. I'm assuming you download mail from server via POP3. Most ISP's frown on leaving mail on server for long or much volume left for storage.

I think you need to locate the mailbox location, which you can can do by clicking Help | About Pegasus mail... and clicking Info. Then copy the mail backup to that directory. Hope this helps.

Changing the print settings doesn't help. Well, normal settings didn't help. I did find a setting under Printing Preferences, Page setup,  Print options to "Disable the paper source setting of the application software". This solved the problem for PMail, but I don't know if it will come back to bite me for other applications. I'm hoping that the driver will still select the sheet feeder for photo paper without the application specifying the paper source.

I would call this a bug in PMail, since this problem has been around for years.

Well, I finally got Pegasus to connect to the server. But the downloaded emails disappear into the ether! I have no "incoming mail" folder. Additionally, I now get a message - "the user you are attempting to 'become' does not exist on this machine!!!

 How do I re-create myself, PLEASE?

Your question is too general for any specific answer. What type of server are you going to download mail from. Are you planning to do pop3 or IMAP4? A network server at work, school?

Install to c:\pmail location, the default. The installer will ask you some questions,  V4.52 is multiple user by default and ADMIN user is created by default. You can add one or several usernmaes or after you getr admin user up and running. The HELP is very extensive and at first F1 key may be your best friend. Then come back here with more specific questions if necessary. The community also has FAQ and WIKI sections too.

Did you check your pmail.usr file and make sure your pmail logon name is listed? You can open it using notepad or other text editor.

I've read the in-program help as well as the PDF and found no useful into.

I also allowed it to create what it wants and that did not help at all.

 Not being able to choose an account and it's associated SMTP server is a real bust; it is not even mentioned anyplace that I can find.

In the year 2011 I suspect many people have more than one email account on different servers and use multiple SMTP settings so this is a very important need.

I am severely disappointed in the lack of functionality (or just the sheer confusion) in trying to use this very mature, long-standing, time-honoured program.

II was hoping for a way to rerun or refresh an existing search. It seems the save and load you speak of are only available when creating a search in that dialog.

My wife, who has Pmail running on a separate PC, has been getting this problem, and I usually have to copy her SMTP config file from a backup. However I found the problem on my own PC yesterday. The above reply gives food for thought. In my case I simply stopped and restarted Pmail, and it is working fine now. Very odd.

I use 5 quick actions to move mail to specific folders, never have any problems and I do use them over and over all day.  

I use a toolbar.pm that puts these actions on the toolbar though so I do not have to even remember what actions does what.  Here's a snippet of my toolbar.pm.

Just to clarify this - you can get 'on-close' filters to work in preview mode but you have to fully open the folder in it's own window ( by double-clicking or pressing return).  The filters are applied when you close this window and return to the 3-pane view.
