> Since I added a second POP3 adress (to also download mails from my other email account ) I have problems with Pegasus downloading the same emails
> endless times.

Go to Tools | Internet options | (Receiving)POP3, and select "Delete mail from host once it has been successfully retrieved"  If you check this box, Pegasus Mail will delete the host's copy of each mail message it successfully downloads, which will prevent it from being presented to you again the next time you retrieve mail. Leaving this box unchecked tells Pegasus Mail to leave the mail on the host even if successfully downloaded. Mail left on the server will be retrieved every time you download mail.

You can also edit the POP3 setup in the same location and select "Download only unread mail" The usual practice when retrieving mail from a POP3 host is to delete it from the host when it is successfully downloaded. If you do not delete it, you would normally expect to see it again the next time you download mail from the host. Pegasus Mail incorporates a powerful and complicated facility which allows you to leave mail on the POP3 host without deleting it, but only download mail you haven't already seen. Because the POP3 protocol does not actually provide this facility, there are some limitations on this command, the most specific being that if you run Pegasus Mail on more than one machine, each one willhave a separate list of what you have already seen; so, if you download mail using one machine then access your account later from a different machine, you will probably get the mail you downloaded the first time again, where downloading the mail on the same machine you originally used would only show mail which had arrived since the last time you accessed your account. Check this control to instruct Pegasus Mail to attempt to download only mail you have not read. The effect of this control is probably meaningless if you do not also uncheck the "Delete retrieved mail on host" control. Using this feature can significantly increase the  time it takes for Pegasus Mail to retrieve your new mail.

If this means that the CNM files are not in the users new mail directory on the Netware server this could be because

1.    The forwarding is done via a forwarding file and the deliver also is not set.

2.    There is a new mail filter in Pegasus Mail that is deleting the messages.
i this pegisus mail now way to bet new email from pop3 server? please help[:(]
Goto to Tools => Internet options => Receiving and check your POP3 settings, adjust them according to your provider's instructions (especially with respect to authentication and security settings). If you have no clue what's going wrong you may need to create session logs which can be enabled on the dialog's General page, please read the associated help for detailed instructions. Please remove personal data (like user name and password) if posting logs here!
"Buffer overrun detected!
How is David Harris supposed to fixed an issue that he dosn't know anything about? Just saying "there's a bug" doesn't help anyone, can you at least report some more details about what you or the program were doing when it occured? Can you duplicate it? And if not it might help to install for creating crash dumps when it occurs - otherwise there's absolutely no way of fixing this, sorry.

Which Windows version do you use? I get the feeling now that only setting a browser as default at least once creates such entries - it isn't necessary to keep this setting, though.

Yes, absolutely that's a valid way of repopulating a mailbox from a backup. I didn't propose it partly because of the existence of new mail since the reinstallation. I don't know how the filenames of folder files are created so I don't know what the chances of duplication would be. With care though, as you pointed out, it is quite a simple approach.

Thank you again for your input. Everything is back on a good track again and holding after a few days use.  From now on I will certainly be more disciplined in limiting the accumulation of my new mail folder messages.

Thank You!

I deleted the words4.db3 file, started Pegasus and everything worked as expected.  Excellent!

Pegasus Mail crashes randomly within a couple of minutes after launching it with or without any user activities involved; it may also lack theSpamhalter ... menu item in the Tools | Spam and content controls submenu: This is caused by Spamhalter failing to load its existing database to be found in a file called words4.db3 located in the active user's mailbox directory. To fix this issue you may simply remove the existing database file - a new, empty one will be created automatically when restarting Pegasus Mail. The downside of doing this is that Spamhalter needs to be trained again ...

Thanks Again,

Tom

As I see it then, I currently have Pegasus 4.41 on 98SE. I can also run it from XP computer (peer-to-peer) But my problem is I cannot call it from my Windows 7-64 laptop (peer-to-peer wireless).

I am thinking of installing 4.52 on the XP but keep the mailbox on 98SE. Then I think I could call the 4.52 up from XP and W7, and to continue to run the 4.41 as is on 98SE -- leaving 98SE untouched.

As I started the install of 4.52 on XP, the install program discovered the 4.41 copy on 98SE and offered to either update it (keeping it on 98SE I presume) or to make a new install (on XP I presume).

One factor that might complicate things is the the newmail is in a folder under mail. (On 98SE, \PMAIL\ is on D:, and the mailbox is partition E: at E:\mail\Pmail\newmail\)

Q1 - Should I have reasonable expectation that this will work -- with the mailbox being addressed by two different versions of Pegasus?

Q2 - Is there a better configuration I should be using? Like is it dangerous to have the mailbox on a different computer from the program?

> Pegasus Mail uses the remail extension to put the delayed mail into the notify queue for later sending.

I'd really need to use Mercury's delayed mail feature, but I cannot use the remail extension on Pegasus Mail because all of our clients connect to Mercury via SMTP.

Is there any other way to trigger Mercury's Remail feature besides using Pmail's remail extension? Maybe via some special X- headers in the message being delayed/remailed or something?

And, more generally, since Mercury/Pegasus manual and help file do not explain the inner workings of this powerful feature nor the syntax to trigger it, is there any documentation around that can give more informations on it and maybe help in using it?

Thanks in advance,

  Corrado

This is a really old discussion to reactivate and you have not provided any information specific to your situation.  If it is the same as the OP (drive letter change on an external drive) the I think the easiest solution is to assign the previous drive letter to that drive via Computer Management.

If you are unable to do that, have you read through the thread of the post linked to by Michael?  It does a good job of explaining how to configure Pegasus Mail to use mailboxes at a specific location.  One thing to be aware of is that the utility "pconfig.exe" referenced in the thread is a 16 bit DOS app that won't run on current machines without a DOS emulator.  You would use pconfig32.exe instead (included with Pegasus Mail v4.71+).

You could either save the messages to a file and then remove the headers you don't want, or 'print' the messages to a text file with only 'significant headers' (where you define significant as only the Subject).  Either way is not exactly simple but may do what you need.

One way is to mount the other mailbox using the "Add mailbox to list..." option from the Folders menu. Then you can simply copy the messages across as if everything is one big account. [:D]

Thank You Sir,

I knew it would be simple.

I just needed some guidance in getting to the right page.

I checked out the help menu there & got more insight.

I'm good for now;  but, as I start playing with the filtering (including server side)

I'll probably need some more help then.

Until later!
If there is no temp, I don't feel comfortable dumping several thousand individual messages into the Windows directory.
This is a good reason but can easily be avoided by creating a subdirectory - which is a (IMO) a good idea anyway as the TEMP folder may already be populated with lots of various files confusing the user.
