Thanks Caisson, now I got it. In case anybody is searching for in Fully German Version:  Extras > Einstellungen > Eingehende Nachrichten > Vorschau-Einstellungen > "Detailanzeige im Vorschaufenster aktivieren"

But unfortunately it doesn't take any effect to the preview pane. It is still being displayed.
Hi Joerg,

It's good to be corresponding with you again.  As for the preview pane, the setting to remove the ribbon only removes the ribbon as I'm sure you noticed.  You can now effectively hide the preview pane by grabbing the divider bar between the message list and the preview pane and dragging it down.

Based on your other posts I now understand that you are concerned about the auto-preview of potentially dangerous messages and that you understand users are pretty safe with remote graphics disabled.  Knowing that, there probably isn't an advantage to hiding the preview pane.

This is a maintenance update that provides

support for MediaWiki newsfeeds, which are increasingly being used

by news media for both PCs and  tablets etc.  The sample

list of news services (sample_rsslinks.txt) has been updated to show

some of these sites.

Available as

Also in this release are some fixes to correct

the option of choosing Email or Html file
I'm using Pegasus v4.63 and wish to try out v4.70. Is there a way to do this, leaving behind a way to go back to my present v4.63 in case of encountering some intractable problems with 4.70?
That depends on the installation.  If installed to the default location of C:\PMAIL with programs in C:\PMAIL\PROGRAMS and mailbox directories in C:\PMAIL\MAIL then you have two options.

If you want to test it with you existing configuration then make a copy of the entire C:\PMAIL directory including all subdirectories which you can restore if you don't like v4.70.  Install v4.70 over the existing installation.  The only caveat is that if you use POP3 and delete mail on the server, mail downloaded into v4.70 will not be available to the restored v4.63 without some effort.  If this is the case you might want to make a plan for that before you begin.

Alternatively you can install v4.70 beside v4.63.  Install it to a path like C:\PMAIL470 (keep the directory name at 8 characters or less with no spaces).  I don't exactly remember the installation routine but I think you can tell it not to create start menu entries or a desktop shortcut so as not to overwrite the ones you have now (I don't know for certain that it would, just a precaution).  You would then need to create a shortcut to C:\PMAIL470\PROGRAMS\WINPM-32.EXE.  If you use POP3 you might want to configure it to leave mail on the server so that it is available for your v4.63.

If you want to run both instances simultaneously you will need to add the -MS command line option to each shortcut.  For details see Help > Command line options.

I dont know why you are blaming Gmail for this, Im using a completely different SMTP server and having the same problem. The servers are accepting post most of the time. Its only when we use this copy and paste that things go wrong. Gmail is not closing the connection, true but the likely cause to my mind is that Pmail isnt terminating its part as it should. The copy and paste has knocked something out of kilter.

I have been experiencing similar problems here in the U.S. over the past few days. Coincidentally, my ISP uses Yahoo mail.
When I try to open the attachment it only says "Type Unknown" and I have to save it first to enable me to open it in ADOBE.
If you are trying to open the pdf attachment by double clicking or selecting the "Open" in the attachment pane try restarting Pegasus Mail.

If that isn't the problem, can you open a .pdf by double clicking on the filename from within Windows Explorer?  If not, the systems file association for the .pdf extension is broken.

As a last resort you can go to Tools > Options > Incoming mail > Content viewers and add an entry for the .pdf extension.  Select the "Run this program" option and browse to select the Adobe executable.

I have... of course!... an addressbook in my Pegasus setup.

Let's say, for arguement, I have entries (in the "Name" field) for....

       ABC Taxis

       Brown- Fred- home

       Brown- Fred- work

       Chester Library

Now... with such an address book, if I type "Brow", Pegasus helpfully offers one of the Browns' entries. If it is the RIGHT one, I can just tab to the "Subject" field, and get on with doing the email. If Pegasus offered Brown- Fred- home, but I wanted Brown- Fred- work, I just keep typing the contact name I want, and when I get to "Brown- Fred- w", Pegasus switches from the Brown it was proposing before to the other one. NOW I can just press tab, and proceed as before.

So far so good. All that works nicely for me.

But.

Let's say that at the moment, Pegasus proposes "Brown- Fred- home" when I type "Brow".... but I want the other one to be the first "Brow..." offered:

I've tried all sorts of things... for hours... several times over the years... none of the "usual tricks" work. (For instance, putting an extra hyphen in one of the names sometimes does the trick (if you add it to the right one!) in some apps, but not(?) Pegasus.)

Can anyone spot what I'm missing under Pegasus? How to make something the first entry offered? I even try re-sorting the display AND re-indexing the book after making edits to the "Name" fields (I'm using Pegasus 4.63 in a Windows 7 machine. And 4.52 in an XP machine. (Only still on 6.52 there because that installation is older, and I abhor upgrading WORKING systems! (But yes, I do apply OS and browser upgrades!!)).

=====

(While writing: Newbie beware: Don't us a comma in a "Name" field for an addressbook record. I.e. Don't put "Brown, Fred- home" in an addressbook)

I just download Pegasus Mail 4.7 from the S3 site, and AVG did not find anything wrong with the Exe distribution file.

Nothing detected by Avira either.

I found these out (not sure if this might help others);

When I installed a new version of Pegasus in Windows 8 sometimes "PMAIL" installed by itself and sometimes both "PMAIL" and "Admin PMAIL" are installed.

When both are installed, there seems to be problems with copying old files and setting up POP3 and SMTP.

When PMAIL (only)  is install, the path is; C:\PMAIL\MAIL\ADMIN

I was able to setup  POP3 and SMTP and copy backup .pmm/.pmi files in the "MAIL" directly and it worked.

All is working now but there seems to be something with the directory that Pegasus is installed in and also the ADMIN component of the installation.

General follow up....I have since downgraded back to v.4.63 and all is fine again.  I can easily compose a new email while downloads are in progress; or while Pegasus is checking for new mail, I can still open and close or delete messages.  Something in v.4.7 is preventing that from happening.

Never mind... back to the delays.  It did seem to help for a few hours if that's a clue...

Thank you Caisson and Bfluet.... I got the issue resolved.  I reinstalled Pegasus on the Windows 8 machine again and did the set up using the same POP and SMTP settings and it worked.

I believe it was an installation issue. Cant say for sure but something to do with the fact that there was no "Pmail admin" installed this time. There seem to be some "rights" issue. It could also be some corrupt files during installation.

Thanks.
