ClamAV v99.0 fails to start

[quote user="Brian Fluet"]Changes to the .conf files are indeed rare but I prefer to do a file compare of the samples from the existing and new version and then use the new ones when there are changes.

I agree - that's best [;)]

I just overwrote my ClamAV v0.98.7 files with those from v0.99.0 but clamd fails to start.  A command window flashes but that is all.  Has anyone gotten it to work?  I have reverted back for now.

Works fine for me (on Windows 7 and XP). Try starting the program manually from a command window and see what is says.

Works here too.

I found the problem.  I had failed to rem out the "Example" line in the .conf.

FWIW, I find that sticking to the same .conf file as for previous versions works best.  New options are quite rare, and are best read about before implementing anyway.  (I have quite a few non-standard options too, but I may be the exception there.)

Just my view after years of ups and downs with clamav - and we're still only at version 0.99!
