Copies to self not loading

Thanks, Brian

I will back up the data then give that a go and see what happens. I may not respond for a time as I will have to do this when she is not accessing her mail.

Cheers :)

Hi, folks

Using Pegasus Mail 4.7.

One of our staff who works remotely is using Thunderbird for IMAP access to their mail account. Everything was fine until early December when she reported that her sent messages were not being saved to the Copies to self folder.

When Thunderbird is opened it can access the mail account without any problems. I can see the Copies to self folder but it is greyed out with an italic font. When I checked the Mozilla knowledge base, greyed out folders in italics are folders that can no longer accept messages.

I opened her mail account on the server that hosts the account using Pegasus Mail. Copies to self is not listed in the folder window.

After closing Pegasus Mail I used Windows file explorer to access the mail account folder and I could see copyself.pmm and copyself.pmi. So, I deleted the hierarch.pm file and restarted Pegasus Mail but the folder is still not listed.

The name of the files is in lowercase and I tried changing that to uppercase, removing hierarch.pm again, but copies to self is still not loaded by Pegasus Mail.

Anyone have any tips I can try to get the folder recognised by Pegasus Mail, please?

Thanks

Digging a little further into this I have looked at the original hierarch.pm file and can see the following for the copies to self line (line 2):

0,0,"4GGAJC2D:154C:copyself","50F91331:My mailbox",Name_Unavailable

Will it be OK to simply correct this, or has the copies to self folder become corrupted?

When I look at my mail account's hierarch.pm I see:

0,0,"6176DDED:134E:COPYSELF","18CB2206:My mailbox","Copies to self",0,20

The only thing that comes to mind is a duplicate copies to self folder.  I don't know how to determine that other than to do a text search for "copies to self" in the mailbox directory to see if it is found in multiple .pmm files.  If so, open each one with a text editor to see if its folder name is "copies to self".

If suspicions are strong that copied to self is corrupted then restoring the default is probably that way to go.  Make a backup copy of the mailbox directory then, from within Pegasus Mail, delete the copies to self folder  If it deletes fine, copy the copyself.pmm and .pmi files from the \Default directory back to the mailbox directory.  You can then recover the copied to self messages from the backed up copyself.pmm.

Note, I say "if it deletes fine" because yesterday I encountered a misbehaving copies to self folder and was working to replace it with the default but when I deleted the copies to self folder it didn't actually delete but instead began behaving normally.  I haven't yet figured why the delete would have fixed it.
