P-Mail on Verizon problems - again

The most likely answer is that they fixed it.

The initial error suggested the problem was temporary/transitory (a 4xx code) and that the issue was with a remote server rather than Pmail.

Hope it remains fixed.

RE:  P-Mail v4.71.565

Verizon bought AOL's email system.  They have switched over to their email infrastructure this week.  I can receive email in P-Mail but I can't send email in P-Mail.  I can send email using MS Outlook.

I  do not know if the problem is transitory or permanent.  Verizon indicated the issue was to be fixed on Friday, 2/12/'16 ~0945 hrs.  P-Mail seems to be the problem now.[:(]

I have again implemented rednoise' suggestion of using STunnel.

No to TCP port 587 'cause Verizon requires port 465.

However, I did check "Via STARTTLS" with TCP port 465,

Thank you.

And AOL?

I don't have an AOL account.  I have a Verizon account with email on Verizon.Net

Verizon bought their email infrastructure and they, Verizon, did a switch-over earlier in the week.  It was relatively seamless, that is until Thursday.

I'm aware of that from your first post, but thought that some or all of AOL's infrastructure might be in use.

The reason I ask is that if I query Verizon's SMTP server on port 587 STARTTLS is listed in its capabilities.

I setup a new Verizon SMTP Profile for TCP Port 587 using STARTTLS and It worked.

I tried the old Verizon SMTP Profile for TCP Port 465 using SSL and it too worked.

Maybe Verizon finally fixed the server ( which was supposed to have been fixed on Friday ) but it is an option that works.

Thanx !

So now I have 3 Verizon Profiles for SMTP.

  • TCP port 465 over SSL
  • TCP port 587 Via STARTTLS
  • STunnel Proxy

I setup STunnel as a NT Service so all I have to do is enable it and set to start "Automatic" IFF needed.
