Urgent Emails not on top

Control of whether or not read messages can stay in the new mail folder is controlled by this setting:

Tools > Options > General Settings > Basic Settings > Allow read messages to stay in the new mail folder

I am using Pegasus 4.71

Urgent emails in the new mail folder are now listed after unread mail.  Theoretically it is not possible, but which file might be corrupt? This only affects the new mail folder.

I use pegasus from a shared folder on the network and it only affects my profile (from any workstation).  I have a significant number of folders and 10+ years of email, so I would prefer not to damage anything.

Hopefully someone can advise?

Don't keep more than 700 messages in your new mail folder.

Many thanks for the reply. I had only 239 cnm files, but there are a total of 979 items in that same folder.

I created a new folder and moved all but 69 emails leaving 780 items in total in the directory of which 180 are PMM folio files, 41 PML AND 177 PMI files

Sadly the problem remains, could the total number of files in the directory be the issue?

PMI and PMM files are folder pairs, PMI being the index file and PMM the message file each with the same name, but differing extensions. There should be the same number of each.

PML files are distribution lists. Neither should be the problem. Question is what are the remaining 500+ files (by extension) if you have moved out all but 69 of the CNM files?

No, I don't think so. Maybe Brian has some more suggestions.

Many thanks for both replies. When investigating this issue it appears that I have achieved by mistake what many other would like, unread, important, read but marked readonly. This issue only affects the "new mail" folder, all other folders behave as they always have with important first, then unread and then read last. I will investigate the PMM/PMI mismatch as well.

Be aware that you can sort any folder by the properties column.  An example is clicking the date/time column header will sort by date but if you then click the properties column header you change the sorting so that all unread messages are sorted by date to the top, urgent by date are next, followed by read messages by date.  Click the properties column header again and urgents are back to the top.

Brian, it does not matter which field I click on, the result remains the same. Unread, urgent, read.

I have the choice of From, Subject, Date/Time, Size - I assume these are the properties column headers you are referring to.

The properties column I refer to is the one on the far left (no column heading).

Many thanks Brian (& Michael & caisson), sadly nothing undoes whatever I have done. The good news is the new layout (unread, important and then read only) forces me to deal with my incoming emails immediately (if I do not the new/unread becomes read and disappears into the main folder). This will stop me using my inbox as a storage folder. If I ever work out what has changed I will advise because others my prefer this layout.
