Can't print a downloaded image -- the page prints blank

Oops. I just used the Shift-Ctrl-P on a different email, and the preview showed 4 pages of printing for what should be no more than a page an a half. This preview inserted more than a half page of blank space between sections that weren't separated in the email. Is this normal?

When I get an email with an image I can't print it. The page prints blank. I download the image and it displays on my screen, but I can't priint it!!!

What I end up doing is taking a snapshot, copying the image to Word and printing from there -- VERY lame, especially if the whole image doesn't fit on the screen.

What can I do to fix this??

You can open HTML messages in a browser from which printing should be trouble free unless the content itself makes printed output infeasible.  Post back if you are not familiar with opening messages in a browser.

I suspect the developers of the HTML renderers will post their thoughts on the issue of printing those images from within Pegasus Mail.

If either IERenderer or Bearhtml is producing the image(s) on the screen then the image can be printed as part of the total page. OR right click in the image and you should get a dialog that offers to save the image, and then it can be printed by your favourite image editor.

If that doesn't work you will need to send us the message, so we can look at it.

Hi Martin, and thanks! When Pegasus first opens the message, every image shows up as a gray box. Sometimes the whole message is a gray box. I right-click on the box and click on "show pictures (HTML only)", and that downloads the image, which then appears on the screen. The I click on the print icon (or hit ctrl-P), and then I click the printer set-up box and select preview. Then I click on print. First thing, I get no preview (this is a bug, I think). Second thing is that what prints is the gray box! This is not so bad if the gray box is just a logo, but sometimes the whole message is embedded in the image. (What I've been doing then is using Snagit to capture the image, after which I copy it and paste into Word (after opening Word) and print from there. Kinda lame.)

The previous version of Pegasus (I just upgraded to Version 4.71 565) would print whatever showed up on the screen, but not this version. I am running Windows 7 on an old PC.

I guess I could open the message in a web browser and print from there, but that is really cumbersome if you have to do that every time you want to print -- and so many message are coming embedded in eye-candy these days...

How would I get a couple of these messages to you to look at?

Thanks so much for your help!

Thanks, Brian. I hadn't thought of opening it in a browser, but that is easier than using Snagit and pasting into Word. Still, Pegaus used to print this, and now it doesn't.

I just tried to open the message in a web browser -- when I do that, it appears in the browser, and the image is.......  a gray box. Then if I click on that gray box and click on open image in another tab, that tab appears ... blank.

Sigh.

Try Shift + Ctrl + P to invoke the printing. Also if you have Preview=yes in your bearhtml.ini or IErenderer.ini you will get a preview display that you can then direct to printer. But before all that please check that you are automatically downloading remote graphics (see menu Tools/Options/Incoming mail    Display remote graphics. Select automatic

I'll not be able to do any (IER) testing until next week.

I have a couple of senders whitelisted for remote graphics but the rest I open in a browser (Firefox) and haven't experienced the gray box issue.

Thanks! I set images to download automatically, as you said, and then tried to print with Ctrl-P, and it was crazy -- printed four sheets of dark gray boxes before I stopped the whole thing. But then I did the Shift + Ctrl + P and presto, there was a lovely perfect preview, and I was able to print from that (using the icon) with no trouble.

I guess I should not worry about changing Bearhtml or IER to include preview, since this works? The regular preview through the printer setup still doesn't work.

Thanks again!
