How to migrate from POP3 to IMAP?

Just a remark on this thread.  There is a known problem with leaving an IMAP session running, if Windows Power Management invokes the Sleep or Hibernation to partially shutdown the system. There is presently no "Keep-alive" for IMAP.  So if you are going to be away from your PC for an extended period (ie over-night) I would recommend shutting down Pegasus Mail before leaving the PC.

I have been a happy, loyal user of Pegasus Mail for over 30 years. However I have never been able to migrate my email accounts from POP3 to IMAP. I have 5 email accounts handled by Pegasus Mail. I have followed instructions to the letter for setting up an IMAP account. It seems to connect to the email server but no messages are downloaded to my client (or at least I can't find them). I don't seem to have any problem using IMAP with K9 email client on my mobile phone (or changing from POP3 to IMAP on an account with K9). I only have a problem with Pegasus Mail.

1. Is it possible to have a mix of IMAP and POP3 connected accounts in Pegasus Mail?

2. Is there some special trick I need to use to migrate from POP3 to IMAP for the same email account on Pegasus Mail?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes.

No trick.  It's all in the configuration.  You say that there is an IMAP connection but no messages are downloaded.  IMAP is a protocol that connects to the host server and displays the messages that are there.  It does not download.  A successful IMAP connection is indicated by the existence of an additional mailbox at the bottom of your folder list.  If you are not making an IMAP connection I suggest you generate an internet session log of an attempted IMAP connection.  It should identify where the point of failure is.

For myself I was able to create both POP3 and IMAP accounts for the same mailserver within Pegasus. Then created the folder structure on the IMAP 'profile' for the mailstore and copied the mail folder by folder to the IMAP account.

Once all emails copied to the IMAP server, archived the POP3 mailstore to CD, removed the POP3 Mailbox from Pegasus.
