The addition of the folder entry to the current HIERARCH file was unnecessary.  Pegasus Mail would have detected the new folder files and updated HIERARCH accordingly.  It was harmless though. 

I assumed the folder had been deleted from within Pegasus Mail but the process would have been the same if it had been deleted from within a file explorer.

I accidentally deleted a folder. I have a backup of the .pmm and .pmi files on a USB stick.

How can I restore the folder to Pegasus?

With Pegasus Mail closed you can copy the backed up .pmm & .pmi file pair to the Home mailbox directory (default it C:\PMAIL\MAIL\ADMIN).  If you aren't sure where the Home mailbox directory is go to Help > About Pegasus Mail then click the Info button.

If you need to determine the filename of the file pair that you need to restore open the backed up HEIRARCH.PM file with text editor then do a search for the Pegasus Mail folder name that you deleted.

Entries in HIERARCH are in the form:

0,0,"U12CGKH7:6C1E:FOL03D5F","0851582:TrayName","FolderName"

The filename is the 8 characters following the second colon (FOL03D5F in this example).

I did not mention that the folder was deleted in Pegasus not in Windows Explorer.

The folder was named HH file. I found its record in the backup hierarch.pm. So as well as restoring the .pmm and .pmi files, I copied HH file's record from the backup hierarch.pm  to the Home directory, G:\PMailChris.

In Pegasus, the folder is back!
