Am now at the office looking at a Win7 and Win10 machine.
Both contain this registry entry:
Registry Key : HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\Pdf-XChangeViewer.1
Name : (Default)
Type : REG_SZ
Data : PDF-XChange Viewer Document
Using a flash drive installed Pmail v4.72 I have opened the some message on each of the machines.
Win7 displays an attachment type of: "PDF-XChange Viewer Document"
Win10 displays an attachment type of: "[Type unknown]"
Uninstalled/Reinstalled PDF-XChange Viewer on the Win10 PC and set it as default. Problem remains.
Logged off as my standard user and logged in as an Admin then ran PMail and the attachment type now displays as "PDF-XChange Viewer Document". One would think this is an indication of a registry entry at the user level rather than the machine level. So, I temporarily elevated user ME to an Admin then ran the PDF-XChange Viewer installer. It didn't solve the problem. The attachment type still displays as [Type unknown]. So, "[Type unknown]" when logged in as ME, "PDF-XChange Viewer Document" when logged in as the machine admin (also domain admin).
I confirmed that the .pdf file type remains associated with PDF-XChange Viewer for both users.
I'm completely at a loss.
This is probably the content that would be most valuable to David for consideration but I'll hold off a little longer in case any of you have any other suggestions.
