Well here I am again seeking some minor help from my friends at the forum. Never know what I'd do w/o you guys. Recently had a crash and it the process of reinstalling my programs of which Pegasus is one. I did have the sense to back up the items with all the required materials there and had all my folders and address books alive and working,. Some reason it has been a while as I had shown version 4.41 on the backup and have updated to the current 4.72.
My problem is I simply can't seem to show the Pegasus icon on my desktop to actually open the mail program to read and utilize w/o going back to the portable backup hard drive (Clickfree is the name) and under programs within the Pegasus mail there is the winged Pegasus. I will click on it and my program is available for use until I end and then unable to use until repeating the process. All the "sub" stuff is listed for the Pegasus program is listed like resource, png old data, defaults etc.
I used to have listed under my startup and was able to open quickly. Any idea what I have to do? Have so many items to straighten out can't think properly. Thanks for any help!

I suspect the best thing for you to do is to do a new installation of Pegasus Mail and then copy just the date from the backup to the mailbox(es) of the the new installation. There is a whitepaper in the downloads section of this site that provides details. Find it here:

and my program is available for use...". This surprises me although you may be clicking on a shortcut that contains the -ROAM options which would explain it. Take a look and see if it is indeed a shortcut or if it is the WINPM-23.EXE file? If a shortcut, copy and paste into a reply the contents of the Target and Start-in (available by right-click > Properties).
I'm confused. Your references to a crash, reinstallation of apps, and Pegasus Mail on a backup drive led me to believe you needed to restore Pegasus Mail from it. If Pegasus Mail still resides in C:\PMAIL with the programs in C:\PMAIL\Programs and the mailboxes in C:\PMAIL\MAIL, and all you need is to restore shortcuts, then a reinstall over top of it (to C:\PMAIL) should do that.
This is my screen and by clicking on the Pegasus icon to the right is only way I can get to the mail, folders etc to see and work but can't send or receive....Whoops to big to show [:(]
Really sorry to appear as a dummy Brian but am so frustrated reinstalling all these other programs and just miss sending and receiving the mail which I do and count on a lot. It appears both 4.72 and 4.41 are both in the backup and they are both listed as applications with the exe extensions---there are no pegasus icons showing shortcuts.. when I should click on either it will give me the program with my entire address books,folders and I'm able to read everything BUT i cannot send or receive so I really don't know if I had messed anything up or not. As mentioned I used to have a desktop icon so I could just reach itw/o any problems. so frustrated this old guy about ready to cry. I tried to give a scree shot but it was a no go.

What is your goal? Are you just trying to get one of the versions on the backup drive working or are you needing to get Pegasus Mail on the C: drive?
If you can start up the v4.72 that is on the backup drive, go to Help > About Pegasus Mail then click the Info button. Copy the contents of that window into your reply. I should provide us with the details needed to advise you on the best next step. No confidential information is in those details.
My goal is to simply try to get one of the versions on the backup

to use quickly as in the past. As mentioned the only way I can get to the mail program
currently is to go to the backup and click on one of the versions and the .exe associated with it. It will allow me to use normal.
As also mentioned, I can receive mail but unable to send...appears to have a locked mailbox which is another issue I can play with once squared away
Sounds like all you need is a shortcut on your desktop to winpm-32.exe of whichever version you what to use. The shortcut should look like:
drive:\path\winpm-32.exe -A -ROAM
Be aware that this will not provide full Pegasus Mail functionality. It won't be able to be set as the default mail program and MAILTO links will not work. The Pegasus Mail installer creates the registry entries associated with these functions.
FWIW, a locked mailbox would not affect sending. If your mailbox is locked you will receive that warning on startup. Once past it, sending problems will be in the SMTP host configuration. It would probably be best to create a new one using the current settings required by your provider.
Didn't sign out as I was still trying and really didn't mean to ignore you. It really seems I'm lost in trying to follow how you're trying to help me and I really have to apologize. Don't know what I did but I got to a point whereby I now only have the 4.72 version (unless I wish to revert back) which is okay as that's the latest anyway but it has all my address books and folders so we are getting close
I had a screen where it asked for a name and a password (it was on the old version but it had been so long ago had no idea what was put in.I had to make something
I guess maybe its just the short cut to the desktop is what we need so I don't have to continually go to the back up (and continually have it open to be able to work the mail program. Is there any chance you could provide me with a simple step by step process to do so for this old geezer? It would be appreciated
Been with Pegasus for over 20+ years and never had any problems till this damn computer crashed....so its not the program but me and the computer

As for the desktop shortcut, Right click on a blank area of the desktop, select New > Shortcut. In the location box browse to the WINPM-32.EXE file of the backup. To the end of that path add a space, a "-A", a space, a "-ROAM". The resulting path should look like this:
drive:\path\winpm-32.exe -A -ROAM
Click Next, then type in a name for the shortcut (logically "Pegasus Mail").
That should do it. There's no guarantees this will work but it should if you have been able to run Pegasus Mail by navigating to the WINPM-32.EXE file and double-clicking it.

Let's try this again... Here's my brain dump on how to go about restoring from your backup:
You will notice in your "Info" that the paths for the New mailbox and Home mailbox locations are C:\PMAIL\MAIL. This is a pretty good indication that the backup is of an installation that was in the default location of C:\PMAIL. This final thing to check is whether the \PMAIL directory of this backup contains the subdirectories \MAIL and \PROGRAMS. If it does, there is a pretty good chance of an easy restore. Here's how to do it.
1. Use a file explorer to check to see if the directory C:\PMAIL exists. If it does, rename it to C:\PMAIL_RENAMED (it can be deleted once the restore is working)
2. From your backup, copy the entire contents of the \PMAIL directory (the 4.72 version) to C:\PMAIL.
3. Use a file explorer to navigate to C:\PMAIL\PROGRAMS the double click the WINPM-32.EXE file. This should start Pegasus Mail. Shut it back down. Don't try to do anything else with it yet. This startup/shutdown simply creates a registry entry that will be used by the next step.
4. Run the Pegasus Mail v4.72 installer program (w32-472.exe). The second screen should show an installation path of C:\PMAIL. If it doesn't, manually change it to C:\PMAIL. Click Next.
5. On this screen uncheck the following if they are checked then click Next.
- Pre-Configure a user mailbox
- Roaming Mode
6. The installation routine will run creating shortcuts and necessary registry entries for full functionality.
7. That should do it.
NOTE: You may still need configure Pegasus Mail as the default mailer in your OS. This process varies by OS and tends to be a bit finicky on Win10. I suggest starting a new thread if you need help with this.
Sorry Brian still a no-go can't get past your #2 as there is no way to copy the entire contents of the \PMAIL directory and that shortcut cut doesn't work either.
As mentioned I can use the program with all the features,folders,send,receive etc but I need to double click that winpm-32.exe which opens it to use. Plenty of other files under mail but all seem to be separate. If I should close the backup, the program will stay open to use until I close but then again when I want to use I have to use same process. i.e. nothing is solid to use w/o entering the backup....very goofy wish I can show you.
I've tried a couple of misc things but somehow the TER.dll is missing but that too is also listed separately in the mail file.
I can't even contact that Clickfree outfit for support but no longer in business and they're really not that old either

I do wish to throw a few additional things your way.
before double clicking the backup as mentioned to enter the prograk, I right clicked on mouse.and 5 items are listed 1] open which does open the program as explained. 2] open with (I'll explain what I did after) 3] restore file to the computer 4] restore to original location (which does nothing) 5] delete file from backup which of course is a no no and properties.
Just for heck of it I went to #2 and tried to open with FireFox my browser...it sent me a little file in a box to download...after downloadong and going through the stuff it said -----"application failed to start because TER32.dll was not found----reinstalling application may fix this problem." It seems whatever is being tried...this TER32.dll is a problem.....don
