Create a List of PMM Files

Many thanks Brian and Shades, I will try that and come back here if I have further problems.  Thanks also to Martin for telling me about Pegfolders.exe

Several years I recall reading of a method to create a text file of all the PMM files containing their long name and file name (FOL****.PMM etc), but cannot now find it.  Can anyone tell me how to create such a list, please?

The reason I need it is because I want to change all the names of my PMM files from their FOL*****.PMM reference to their long name reference, ie LONGNAME.PMM, so I can identify a specific PMM file in Windows Explorer, and such a list would save me a lot of time to do this.

Thanks for any help and advice.

HIERARCH.PM contains that information.  It's entries are in the form:

0,0,"U12CGKH7:6C1E:FOL03D5F","0851582:TrayName","FolderName"

with the 8 characters following the second colon being the filename (FOL03D5F in this example).

It's possible there is a utility out there that records just the filename & folder name parts but one doesn't come to mind.

I sure if you open HIERARCH.PM (as a text file) in Excel you could just import the internal name and the Longname (FolderName) then make a batch fill to do the work

If you don't have excel (or another easy way to splits the strings) send a copy of HIERARCH.PM off list I can make a batch for you to check and test

All my folders are named to match the folder name when created

You might find a program Pegfolders.exe more user friendly:  http://www.lexacorp.com.pg/software/PegFolders.zip
