Dumb Me!

The safest method is to copy just the data files from the old Admin mailbox directory to the new one using that guide I referenced earlier.

Greetings,   I just royally messed up my PM 4.72.  I wanted to assimilate my email folders from XP into my Win10 system.  Now the setup on C:\PMAIL will not run at all.

How do I straighten out this major mess-up?  Do I copy ALL the email folders onto a flash drive and totally wipe out the entire C;\PMAIL directory?

You could rename C:PMAIL to something like C:\PMAIL_BAD then do a new install to C:\PMAIL and then copy the date to the new install.  Use the file

restoration guide for copying content from an old Pegasus Mail

installation mailbox to a new one which you will find in the Downloads section of this site.

Brian,  Thank You!  I did as you suggested and was able to get PM to install and run.  Have been reluctant to try and re-integrate the earlier PM files into the new installation.

I am moderately confused by the -I and -ID commands inthe command-line options;  Can you explain them a little better - so I will not mess up my program?

Ralph B.  Thanks again!

-I <username>

-ID <identity>

Using them in the command line saves from having to enter a username on startup and starts up in the specified identity.  The -I option is not applicable for a single user installation.  The -ID option is not applicable if no identities are configured.

In Pegasus Mail go to Help > Commandline options for more info.

Hello Brian,

I just tried putting the older files into a separate computer with a copy of PM 4.72.  I was able to get the identity directory to incorporate properly;  but I have a problem with the Admin folder contents from the earlier version of PM.

Do I delete the Admin contents and insert the older Admin files in their place - or what?

Regarding the last response,  I had already printed out the command-line options selection.

Thank you.
