Thank you for alerting me to that thread.

I have removed the Deleted Messages folder and  all is working fine now.

Recently I have found that when I delete messages the process can take a few seconds instead of being instant. Typically one second or more per message.

I have re-indexed the Deleted Messages folder in case this would help but it did not.

Further to this  I have tried to remove 300 messages from the Deleted Messages folder and it  hung for over 3 minutes so I had to kill the process.
