Many people have reported that Google has started sending out messages indicating that OAUTH2 authentication will be the only way to access GMail starting from the end of May. Our OAUTH2 module for GMail is well-advanced, and we're currently aiming to have it publicly available by the end of March, well before the Google deadline.
