Setting an App Password for Gmail

I am very confused about what will happen at the end of May regarding Gmail but I am assuming that I can still use Pegasus Mail (SMTP and POP3 mode) if I setup an app password.

Please could someone explain how to do this and what the effect is. Will I have to enter this password every time I login?

And you will just use the app-password instead of your google password.
The Login will be the same as before and you not have to re-enter the app-password.
