Two M/32 servers being each other's backup

OMG how simple it can be! I've noticed that i can also remove the filtering in global filtering rules.

It works like a charm! We are most happy now!

You make this very difficult to help you since you did not provide either domain.  Without the domains we can't check your setup. In addition, when you setup the MX host you must setup a "domain" account at this host so that the other host can receive it for the other to retrive via MercuryD.

Okay Thomas,

This is like it was:

When server is down mails doarrive at server joniel.com. It's there where M/32 doesn't know the users.

So:

In DNS

control I’ve setup:

an entry

for mail.joniel.com to handle 1st mail for joniel.com pointing to

my own IP 89.220.11.177

an entry

for mail2.joniel.com to handle 2nd mail for joniel.com pointing to

my dad’s IP 77.250.17.44

an entry

for mail.jmdebruin.com to handle 1st mail for jmdebruin.com pointing to

my dad’s IP 77.250.17.44

an entry

for mail2.jmdebruin.com to handle 2nd mail for jmdebruin.com pointing to

my own IP  89.220.11.177

On server joniel.com i've added jmdebruin.com in Configuration/Mercury Core Module/Local domains. Done that for joniel.com on server jmdebruin.com

In M/32

on server running joniel.com i’ve made a global filtering rule:

Rule type:

headers

Contents:

FCTSRE Contains @jmdebruin.com

Action:

Move to another user -> hostjmdebruin

Server

running jmdebruin.com polls via MercuryD to deliver mails in mailprop hostjmdebruin on server joniel.com

I

thought this should work but following happens:

When

server jmdebruin.com is down, emails are indeed arriving at server joniel.com

M/32

however returns an error:

Mercury will never get that far, the mail will be rejected before the filtering is ever attempted.  You need to go to the domain section and add a "domain" account on each system. For example, on joniel.com you create a "domain" account to put mail for domain jmdebruin.com in account hostjmdebruin .  Your [Domains] section in Mercury.ini will look something like this:

[Domains]

joniel : joniel
joniel : joniel.com
joniel : mail.joniel.com
joniel : [77.250.17.44]
dm=hostjmdebruin  :  jmbruin.com

Now all mail coming into the host joniel.com for anyuser@jmdebruin.com goes into the account hostjmdebruin.com  When jmdebruin.com comes back online it uses MercuryD to download any mail in this account and deliver it to the users.
