Pmail v. 4.91 caused change to the background colour in folders.

Hi,

I installed pmail v. 4.91, and it caused a change to the background color in folders. I used to have a white background in all previous versions of pmail, but this version has changed the background color to the light green I set in Windows 7.

How can I change it back to white?

It would be nice to have an option in pmail to change the background color to any color the user wants.

This color change occurs only where there is some text — where there is none, the background remains white, as shown in the attached screenshot (folders names removed, hence white there, too68fe2d3a43a3b

See (in PM's main menu) Tools > Basic settings > Use system-defined colours in Pegasus Mail controls.

There are color configuration options in Pegasus Mail. Those options are identify specific so I first wonder if you are "as" a different Identity, although that doesn't explain the white background you see. Have you restarted Pegasus Mail?

As for the color configuration options, you will find them in Tools > Options > User interface > List displays.

This option: "Use system-defined colours in Pegasus Mail controls" was unchecked. When I checked it now the only change was that this white area not covered by any text became green, too. I now unchecked it again and again the only difference is that the area with no text has become white, but everything else is still green.

This option: "Tools > Options > User interface > List displays." introduced diffent colour bands, but between the bands the colour still remains green.

So this is the answer to your question? Set Windows back to its (white) default background color?

I need that color scheme in other software, just not in Pegasus Mail. The option (when unchecked)—"Tools > Basic settings > Use system-defined colours in Pegasus Mail controls"—worked perfectly until version 4.91, when it stopped functioning as expected.

I have just done some testing and believe that I have confirmed that the "Use system-defined colours in Pegasus Mail controls" option is not being honored in v4.91 while it is honored in 4.81.

@dfr , thank you for reporting this. I will pass it on to the developer.

Note: I am running Windows 11 24H2.

I found another issue that can be reported. When you have many email windows open, they are placed on the bottom bar, and on the right side of that bar in previous versions of Pegasus, there were two visible scrolling arrows; now they are not visible at all (though fortunately they still work when you hover the mouse cursor over that spot and click).

Can you provide a screenshot indicating the location you're refering to?

Here you are. The red square shows where the arrows should be visible when there are many windows with mails open.

I've never noticed this behavior before. No matter how many windows I have open in my Pmail environment, my WindowBar displays a maximum of seven and no scroll arrows, not even an indication of their existence when I hover.
Anyway, checking later, I noticed something (one pixel wide) at the rightmost position of the WindowBar that was mouse-sensitive. A mouse click would cause the WindowBar to show the "hidden" list of open windows, that is, the eightieth one onward. A second click would return it to the previous list, and so on.

I think I only ever noticed something like this on the respective button bars at the top of open windows but not at the bottom. But it doesn't show up on these toolbars either.

In Pegasus Mail 4.81 and earlier versions, there were standard arrows that allowed browsing the list of open windows, but only up to a certain point — it seems you could only scroll like that 3 times or so. If there were so many open windows that they didn't fit into the 3 sections at the bottom, they weren't visible in that bottom list at all.

This is also, in my opinion, an issue that should be fixed. It should be possible to view the list of all open windows using those arrows, not just those that fit in the first 3 rows, and then none at all.

I agree, maybe in a simpler way like a mouse right-click on WindowBar opening a context-menu with a scroll-able list of all open windows. Later I'll look into the UI after this "hidden" control.

Michael, it "shows" only when the number of open windows exceeds the main windows limits. As I've said, it's just a pixel wide here. After mouse-click it's noticed a slightly bigger ghost area left to the mouse arrow.
