Thanks again Brian. I'm not quite sure what I have done this morning (I have been switching between the two different versions as you suggested), but now have Pegasus 4.9 working on my main desk-top and so far it hasn't frozen. Whilst checking and re-checking things, I found that Pegasus had been installed as C:\MAIL\MAIL instead of C:\MAIL, and when I corrected the path in the Properties\Target field, the program loaded ok without asking for a user name. I will see how things go over the next few days and will only come back here if the 'frozen' problem re-occurs but, at the moment, it looks as if updating from 4.8 to 4.9 may have solved the problem. Many thanks indeed to you and Michael, it really does help to have people like you two to talk to when things are not going right. I will also add this post to the other 'Pegasus Mail Frozen' topic to conclude that as well.
