Thanks Brian. Before I posted my question, I had asked Google AI how to set it up, and the following is what it told me. I assume from what you have said, that that is wrong information? (This won't be the first time AI has given me wrong information!) Setting up "spell check as you type" (often called "on-the-fly" or "real-time" spell checking) in Pegasus Mail 4.9 is a bit different from modern web-based email because Pegasus uses an internal editor and the Hunspell engine.
Here is how to enable and configure it:
- Enable Real-Time HighlightingBy default, Pegasus Mail may be set to only check spelling when you manually click the button or send the message. To see red underlines while you type:
Open Pegasus Mail and go to Tools > Options.
In the left-hand list, look for the Outgoing mail category and select Message editor.
Look for a checkbox labeled "Enable 'Live' spell-checking (underline errors as you type)" or similar.
Note: If this option is greyed out, it usually means no dictionary is currently selected.
Click OK to save.
- Select Your DictionaryIf the underlines aren't appearing, you need to ensure a dictionary is active:
Open a New Message window.
Click the Spell Check button (the ABC icon) in the toolbar.
In the spell check dialog that pops up, look for a Settings or Dictionaries tab.
Ensure your preferred language (e.g., US English or UK English) is selected in the list.
Click Close or OK.
