Pegasus 4.91 won't load after crash

I'll try to make this short. I am running Pegasus Mail 4.91. Something happened while I was trying to attach files to a piece of mail and it didn't send. It froze up and wouldn't do anything. I shut the program down and restarted it thinking that it would clear itself. No good. After a number of attempts to do that, I drew the conclusion that the program itself had gotten corrupted. So I copied the mail folder, deleted the program, downloaded a fresh copy and copied the mail folder into the fresh program. Still won't load and run. The error box that comes up says that there are one or more autosaved messages in my mailbox. Checking either option to get the program finish loading still results in a frozen program. I'm not sure just how to proceed, but some help would be appreciated. I'm guessing that if I knew what file in the mail folder to delete I could probably get this thing to finish loading and it would come up and run. All my business mail and correspondence in on this. If you could give me some help, I'd appreciate it. I am subscribed to the community website, but not with this e-mail address.

Use a file explorer to look in your mailbox directory for any .PMX, .PNX or .PMW file. These are outgoing messages in some state. If you find just one, it is likely the cause of the problem. You have the option of deleting it, or moving it to a temporary location for review with a text editor. If you find several, move them all to a temporary location. Once none exist in the mailbox directory, try starting Pegasus Mail. Please let us know how you make out.

Also look for a .PMO file. Actually, you could sort the mailbox directory by file date/time and look for any of these four file types (PMX, .PNX, .PMW or .PMO) that are timestamped at the time of the original freeze. That is the likely corrupted file that needs to be removed from the mailbox directory.

Thanks for the input Brian!!

You're a genius. One PMO file was all that was fouling up the works. Pegasus is now running just fine.
Someone else made an observation about attachment size and I'm sure that's what created the issue
in the first place. I created a PDF from my scanner and I had been using it for other things. The scanned
document was 65 meg. So I had to change the size of the file to send it. Another thing that I won't forget
You guys are GREAT!!!

In MY world we would refer to this issue as a DEU problem. If you want that definition, send me an e-mail
w8zv@goldenradioservice.com and I give it to you.

Nah, there's no such thing. No one should be able to cause a crash or a hang.

You are not the first to encounter this. A 65 mb file attachment likely would not transmit due to size limitations encountered along the way but for it to result in a corrupted .PMO file (autosaved message) should not happen. I have a thought about what may have happened and am curious whether or not it makes sense based on your experience. My thought is that when Pegasus Mail was doing its processing of attaching the file to the message it appeared hung because it was busy with that processing. The subsequent hard close of Pegasus Mail then resulted in an incomplete, hence corrupted, autosaved message file. Please let me know what you think.

I then become curious about whether any problem would have occurred if autosave was not enabled, and whether the autosave function itself was the cause of the hang (eg: it attempted a save while the big file was being attached).
