Add-ons for Pegasus Mail
Help in finding creator of folderRep

On May 12, 2020, I downloaded a file titled 'folderRep.zip' with the files:

  Length Date Time Name
--------- ---------- ----- ----
364544 01/29/2019 13:03 FolderPMMRep.exe
390 01/19/2019 12:46 folderRep.ini
2195 01/19/2019 12:43 folderRep.txt

The text file starts off with:

FolderRepPMI

This utility provides Stats on Pegasus Mail message folders.

But doesn't have any identification of the creator.

I was in the "Pegasus Mail & Mercury" section and had just saved a message titled "How to remove duplicate emails" three (3) minutes before downloading this zip file, but don't have the associated post for this program saved.

(The full path was:
Pegasus Mail & Mercury » Pegasus Mail » Pegasus Mail Community Support » How to remove duplicate emails)

I don't have any interest in removing duplicates, but am interested in folder statistics, so this program is useful for me. Editing the .ini file got it to work for me, but I would like to know the provenance of the program, and if there any update. The creator did ask for feedback, but didn't provide any contact info.

Since this sub-forum is for add-ons, maybe someone can identify it.

How long ago did you download FolderRep.

I found this discussion from 2020 in which FolderRep is mentioned by poster "Irelam" who many of us knew as Martin. The post includes a URL that would have been to a page on the old forum site. When that site was abruptly shut down, post history was captured and transferred to this site but add-on programs were not.

https://community.pmail.com/index.php?u=/topic/11363/how-to-fix-the-error-when-the-mail-message-tray-folder-hits-the-2gb-limit/1

The post does not specifically state whether he is the author of FolderRep but I suspect that he was considering he was an active and valuable provider of support and add-ons for many years. Unfortunately, he has not been heard from nor responded to contact attempts since 2023.

There is an add-on called PmailUnDup that can show statistics but I think its approach is different. It appears that FolderRep could list the size of every folder file whereas with PmailUnDup you can only see folder file size by checking the stats of each folder file one at a time.

The last capture of Martin's publicly available programs by the WaybackMachine was on 29 December, 2019. Unfortunately, FolderRep is not listed.

Another indication of Martin to be the author is the icon displayed for the executable which is a typical Delphi application icon and I know for sure that he was coding in Delphi Pascal. But otherwise I can't provide any more information, unfortunately.

How long ago did you download FolderRep.

The first line of my initial post stated "May 12, 2020."
(This is why I save interesting items to my hard drive, rather than assuming the link will work in the future.)

Like the 'Tiger' in the thread you cited noted, FolderRep is difficult to use, but I did get it working properly, and was wondering if the improvements the creator mentioned had been implemented. The CSV file it outputs means one can work with the results in Excel, which is very useful.

So, I guess this means that no one else has taken over the project.

I am pretty certain that is the case.
