Pegasus crashes while caching IER

Pmail version 4.91 IER 2.7.3.5 Windows 10 up to date. 8GB RAM

Every few days Pegasus crashes during the caching of HTML. It is ALWAYS when the status line for IER ends with =>13

It has never had any other number than 13 when it crashed.

Also every time I restart Pegasus, I have to select the renderer. It always defaults to Bear.

There are 3 user mail accounts. They are admin, Jim and Marnie.

None keeps the selected HTML renderer.

Mail is located in C:\pmail\MAIL

There are over 2000 emails in the New Mail Folder of the JIM

There are over 110 Mail folders.

I have mail going back to 1997.

Any suggestions for those 2 issues I have?

I have re-indexed and recovered deleted space on almost all of the folders.

I have screen shots of the file and folder counts under properties of the folders in the PMAIL directory if posting or forwarding would help.

Thanks

Jim

Jim, I replying just to let you know that your message is not being ignored. Regrettably, I don't have any advice for you. Both of your issues seem to be IER related so a response from Michael IDW, the developer of IER, is needed. He is active here so I'm confident that he will stop in when he can.

Starting with a couple of additional question, Jim:

This is most likely when switching from image download to re-rendering the affected message(s): Does this affect all messages loading remote images or only certain ones? If the latter, can you please forward a sample message to <beta-reports [at] pmail.gen.nz>?

It might be necessary to lokate these in your new mail directory which can be looked up via PM's main menu Help > About Pegasus Mail > Info (button at the bottom): There should be information about the Home mailbox location and the New mailbox location: I assume both these are using the same directory, most likely C:\pmail\Mail\[PM-User].

With this information at hand you can open the respective directory using Windows file explorer for accessing the crashing mail's CNM file whose name can be retrieved by right clicking the (closed) message in PM's new mail folder and selecting Message properties from the context menu showing up: This will not open the message avoiding another crash so you can get its filename from the dialog. If affecting random messages at random times this won't help in figuring out the reason for crashes, though.

I assume you can open IER's configuration dialog via IER's toolbar button menu, so can you please check the cache path being used? In current versions it should be the new mail directory mentioned above. If not you should consider cache relocation which can easily be done by opening the folder selection dialog and accepting the path preselected when doing so. If your current path doesn't match the new mail directory and is still containing cached image files these are relocated automatically to the new default. If it does fix your issues you would need to change the cache path for each user separately provided the above considertations apply there as well.

If none of the above works out please contact me off-forum to my address as shown in IER's About dialog to be opened via IER's button menu, I might provide a test version of IER to you.
