Pegasus attempting attachment causes crash

I'm using Pegasus 4.91. When attempting to add an attachment to an email the app immediately crashes. What can I do to clear this glitch??

Thanks!

This a not a known issue so we are going to need more information.

  • How are you adding the attachment? (eg: Drag-n-drop to the attachment tab or pane? File selection using the "Add attachment" button?)
  • At what point does the crash occur?
  • When you say "crash" do you mean Pegasus Mail shuts down without notice?
  • Does the crash occur with any file that you try to attach or just a specific one?

Hi Brian,

Some more info:

Add attachment

  • At what point does the crash occur?

Right after I click on "Add attachment"

  • When you say "crash" do you mean Pegasus Mail shuts down without notice?

Yes

  • Does the crash occur with any file that you try to attach or just a specific one?

Crash occurs with any file I try to attach.

  • The crashing first occurred after I attempted to attach a specific image file: a HEIC file.

Thanks!

On which Windows version? A rather long time ago there was an issue with having multi-selection enabled in the file dialog: There is a switch for disabling this option on Tools > Options > Advanced settings named Allow multiple file selection when adding attachments (right in the vertical middle of the page). Since PM's help file refers to an issue connected to Adobe applications this might not fit here, but since it's an easy test you might try whether this option still affects you.

I am clueless but have tested the following conditions in the hopes of discovering something:

  1. Will this crash occur if the directory c:\temp does not exist? No
  2. Will this crash occur if the attachments favorite directory no longer exists? No
  3. Will this crash occur it the option to send attachments as separate messages is enabled? No

I remain clueless for the moment.

I'm running 4.91 installed to C:\PMAIL on Win11 Pro 25H2.

Not sure if it would show anything
I've used an old program to run Pegasus under to check dependencies.
../../depends.exe ./WINPM-32.EXE -I Admin

https://www.dependencywalker.com/

This loads pegasus within the program, and then do an F7 to run a profile.
I shows info on the running process.

Running the process, it might just crash completely with Pegasus and not provide any additional info, but it might show some info to what is causing crash. Note: this is the 32bit version, there is a 64bit version, but I've never got the 64bit to work with Pegasus.

Might give some details on if it is actually a Pegasus issue or some other program of dll.

Good Luck.
Assume you check antivirus and other programs that might be jumping into the process.

Running Windows 11 Home.

Haven't yet checked fully the "conditions" above, nor have I run the dependency app. Per antivirus etc check nothing else jumping in...
