WINE 8?? It is running a version 11??

wine is already the newest version (8.0~repack-4).

Distro-specific packages are always old/outdated, because they mirror the state of art of when that specific version was first released. For my admittedly fairly old Linux Mint 21.3 (Ubuntu 22.04 jammy) the latest Wine-stable offered is 4.7...

If you want the latest, you have to install the WinHQ version (which I did, that's why I'm on Wine 11), and henceforth follow the WineHQ upgrade path (for stable it's 2-3 times a year IIRC).

no matter what, we won't get David Harris nor the TER-Editor developer(s) to fix any Linux or Wine issues with Windows applications

Well, they could at least give us some hints on what to look for.
Like, "we changed this for that and the textboxes now use this clever trick". With that information we can then open a bug report at WineHQ.

At least a better one than "Waah! I doesn't woooork!!!..." -rolling eyes-

------Edited to clarify:
This is a Wine bug, definitely, to be fixed by Wine. But if we are to hope this won't just land on the "rare strange issues affecting very few users" heap, we need some additional information.
Something which will change the issue from "too vague, let's put it on the waiting list" to "there might be a problem with x blocking y in case of z, let's have a quick look".

So, it would definitely help knowing what was changed in the text modules (message reading/writing and Help) between 4.73 and 4.80. I don't think it's too much to ask?
